Over the weekend I watched The Martian starring Matt Damon. I loved this movie! Very believable scenario of a man left behind on the first manned mission to Mars and how he survives and eventually rescued. Based on the bestselling novel written by Andy Weir. He worked in the space/aeronautics field and would have to come up with solutions to these types of scenarios so he knows what he's writing about.

I also watched Dead Man starring Johnny Depp and directed by Jim Jarmuschi. Filmed in black and white. I fell asleep twice during this one so that should tell you something. I finished it but it was a chore. I just didn't really believe that the Depp character would have survived out in the wild west of the late 1800's.

Awseome movie, i loved it.
It has a dry and subtle sense of humor.

The trailer is not very exciting (IMHO), but I am still looking forward to the movie, as I loved the first one, I also watched it just about a month ago. A very good movie accept for the fact that the family had
the quitest newborn ever :D
I really liked the original but my problem with it is just how did they get their farmhouse/land rigged up with all of the lights, etc. without making noise?

True. I haven't thought about it :D Another strange thing is why they did not use it all more efficiently, there really were some silly parts where they could evade problems with the equipment they have. Let alone that they could figure out long ago the way to defeat monsters and kill them all using their technology.

I watched most of Doctor Sleep the other night. I fell asleep in the middle but not because I wasn't enjoying it! All these late nights, I'm too old for them. ;) So need to watch again. I liked what I saw except
the ending being different irritated me
Love the lady playing Rose! She was pretty perfect for it!

Hubby said it was really good and he was skeptical going in. He said sequels are never good. I swear he does not listen to me because I told him the book was great! :D

The Lighthouse (2019): Two lighthouse keepers fight for sanity while maintaining their duties as strange events begin to occur. This movie was certainly worth waiting to see, it's so weird and spooky. Certainly a fever dream-esque movie where a lot is left up to interpretation. The entire film is in black and white and the unusual aspect ratio gives it a very vintage and creepy feel. Lots of excellent cinematography. It draws a lot of inspiration from both Lovecraft and Greek Mythology, especially the former in its atmosphere and the theme of isolation and cabin fever. It's a film you have to 100% see for yourself and I'll probably watch it again to get a clearer idea of what the hell it all means.

The one nitpick I have isn't really a flaw at all and is merely on my end, but sometimes Willem Dafoe's character's sailor talk is a bit too good and I couldn't understand what exactly he was saying a lot of the time, but that's intentional and adds more to his character.
