Quantum Of Solace (2008) Daniel Craig

This is the second of the Daniel Craig "Bond" films. This one has some problems but I do like the story. One of the problems was that there was a writer's strike during the making of the film and there was no one to fine tune the script. Another problem is that the action sequences are too jumpy and hard to follow. Also, there is almost zero of that Bond tongue in cheek humor, this one is deadly serious (which I don't really have a problem with). But, if you go in knowing that there are a few problems with it, it's a pretty good story and I liked it. If the problems could have been fixed, this could have been as good as the other two Daniel Craig "Bond" films.
I loved Casino Royale. Just a really good spy yarn.

Candidly, Quantum of Solace not so much. It seemed gimmicky, like they were trading writing for set pieces, literally. I didn't know about the problems with the writers' strike. That explains a lot.

Back to enjoyment with Skyfall. You just had to love
the return of the Aston Martin
. Didn't like it as much as Casino Royale, but good enough.

I'm ready for more. I'm liking Daniel Craig's take on the role. In fact, I like him as an actor.

He's my favorite Bond. I think he has way more depth than any of the others did.

Roger Moore's Bond films are my fav because they are, for the most part, silly. I do like my Bond serious every now and then (Craig is my second fav) and CR and Skyfall are brilliant, but it is movies like Live and Let Die that really suck me in.

I do agree, that acting wise, Craig is probably the best. I do like all of them to some extent though.

X-Men: Days of Future Passed - 9/10

X-Men DOFP was pretty good but hobbled by timey-wimey nothing matters reset button = no real tension. First Class is still first place.

And it totally ignores Xavier's death from X3. Sorry the inference that has to be made from the X3 post credit scene is baloney. Something that important has to be properly explained. DOFP did an end run around it.

22 Jump Street - 8/10

Liked this one a lot more than the first - the self awareness aspect worked quite well. This one had more Ice Cube which made it funnier and the fight scene in Mexico ie the most uncomfortable fight ever - was hilarious. The end credits were a hoot too.

That bothered me, too... except that I'm happy to pretend that "X-Men: The Last Stand" (i.e., #3) never happened. Happy.

What bothered me in Last Stand also bothered me in DOFP. The seemingly unlimited power of Magneto. I mean, bridges (over 880,000 tons), stadiums. The guy must have a matter/antimatter reactor in his sternum or something.

(Well, actually, lots of things bothered me about Last Stand and DOFP, but that was a prime one.)

I hear you on Magneto. He was under used in the second half. Especially McKellen who had very little to do throughout the entire movie. The stadium stuff was too much a copy of the bridge sequence from X3 too.

The rest was pretty cool though and QuickSilver stole the movie.

Watched Saw 5. Still an interesting plot. Not so many disgusting moments as in the part 4. A cool thing is that all the 7 movies tell more and more details about the story, it makes it a really exciting detective.

Thank you. I saw the trailers, wondered, "Why would I go see that? There must be something that I'm missing." Glad to hear I don't have to reevaluate.

I can't stand Melissa McCarthy (as an actress--I know nothing about her otherwise)--reason enough right there not to see it.
