Watched Mulholland Dr. Have to think about many things now... Strange feeling when you do not understand things. But that does not mean it's bad. The movie is really good, I liked it. I hope that I will understand some things after I think them over some more...
Hi Lina! Saw on the old thread that you asked me what my 3 theories were. So, after you've just watched it again, I will share them with you. Here goes:
1) it's a ghost story
2) it's a dream
3) it's one woman's version of how she wished her life had been before she descends into madness, murder-for-hire and suicide
OK, actually there's 4 theories and this one is one I have thought of on my own-
4) she's actually suffers from multiple personality disorder and the only 'real' people in the movie are Adam Kesher (the director), Rita (her ex-lover), and Betty (herself). All the rest of the people are Betty's other personalities that she has used to create the storyline so that she can handle the rejection from Rita, although by the end of the film you know she wasn't able to handle it at all.
What do you think, Lina?

@ SKMOM . . .I justed finished watching Bronson with Tom Hardy. Wow . . .good movie and there are parts that are really disturbing. Since this is based on the life of Michael Gordon Peterson, AKA Charles Bronson I can't help but feel that he didn't really get the help he needed/deserved. I'm not making excuses for his actions but it just seems as if they tried to tame him instead of help him. I also found myself liking this man. Tom Hardy really played the role.

Tom Hardy is now my favorite male actor.
Definitely. Have you seen TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY? I just watched it this weekend, and he's WOW in that one, too, even against Benedict Cumberbatch, Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Ciaran Hinds, etc. BRONSON was disturbing--great choice of words! I wonder whether he would even be amenable to counseling, though? His violence was marked, even as a young one...

I'm currently trying to get hold of STUART: A LIFE BACKWARDS, a 2007 movie with him and Cumberbatch in the leads.

Let me know if you find STUART . . .I am really into Hardy now . . .Tinker is next on my list.
As for Bronson I think if they had tried to do something when he was younger then maybe he wouldn't have become so violent. I feel sorry for him. Not enough to become pen-pals though. He married a few years back and asked to be addressed as Ali Bronson . . .or something like that because of his wife's beliefs. They're not together anymore . . .wonder why!!!!

He sure did like to fight nakkid! Man, I saw so much of Hardy's penis (not complaining)until I think I could pick it out of a line up!

When they put him in that mental place and I saw that patient poop in his hand and use it as a facial . . .I just died!

I can get it in Region 2 format (Brit), and I do have a region free player, but I may wait until the US release--according to the interwebs, it will show on HBO Select in July, and a DVD usually follows that.

I completely forgot about the facial! HAHAHAHA! See where my recommends will get you?! If you have HULU Plus, he's phenomenal in THE TAKE. Oh, and Netflix has him as Robert Dudley in ELIZABETH: THE VIRGIN QUEEN.

Hmm... I'm becoming quite the Hardyphile ('Stalker' is such a subjective term)...

Thanks for sharing this, I was looking forward to hearing these theories of yours, as this is a really difficult issue... As far as I know, no one has ever solved this mystery, what it really was.

As for me, I tend to think that's her version of the life, the way she wanted it to be, as she did not like her real life, she did not like the way Diane were, she wished Diane was different, that's why she "created" Betty, loving, caring... I think this may be right.

Insidious with Patrick Wilson & Rose Bryne, compelling and scary. What appears to start as a haunted house story morphs into elemental tale. A boy is believed to be in a coma but in reality his "soul" (for want of a better word) is trapped in the Underworld and under attack from ghosts and demons who wish to possess his physical body.
Very good.

Thor. I decided to watch the first movie after watching the second part. And thsi time I liked it much better than the first time, as now I pay more attention to the characters' development, as they are more complicated that it may seem, especially Loki, as he seems to be a villain, but he really has his reasons to behave like that... I just love such complicated characters, they are very rare, and it takes so much talent from an actor to play such a man.

I just watched a documentary on netflix called "Sons Of Perdition." It is a story of three teenage boys (15-17 years old) who escape the polygamist sect in Colorado City, AZ and try and make a life for themselves. Once they leave, they are shunned by their family and are on their own. There are a couple of groups that try and help them but it is really a tangled legal mess as well as a tragic situation. The kids are brought up without much education and no influences from outside their town of Colorado City. They grow up in this strange world of a father with several wives. The boys have it good compared to the girls, however. The girls can be married off as young as 14 and all the marriages are chosen by the prophet (the head guy who is now in jail but still running things). Amazing this can be going on here.

I think I saw something about this on 48 hours. It covered the lives of the girls and wives, though. It's amazing how people can control others like that.
