I loved Hateful Eight too.Speaking of Tarantino- I just watched The Hateful Eight over the weekend. Another gore fest from Quentin. No one is what they seem to be in this movie.
I love the songDeej- I love this movie, too! Love everything about it. I have to say, being a gay man, that when I saw the 'dance' scene for the first time I was starting to question my sexuality because, D*MN, that girl could dance! That scene is HOT! As for the second set of girls- the blond in real life is a stunt woman and this was her first time acting. I thought she did a good job here. I just saw here on a TV show a couple of days ago so she must be expanding her acting abilities. Kurt steps out of his comfort zone and plays a bad*ss dude that you just know is not someone to be messed with. I like that there's no explanation for what he does- he just does it. He just IS. Those poor girls just didn't know what hit 'em. Get it?
Grindhouse: Death Proof
Tarantino is one weird dude. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of what I see of him personally. Of course, this is him in front of the camera or microphone. Playing his own part as "Tarantino," so he may be totally different in private. But I don't know his real life. I do believe he is very smart and very interesting. Just don't touch me you icky little bastard.
I find his films fascinating. He takes that road less travelled and challenges the status quo. HIs creative choices tickle me. I like that.
Apparently Tarantino thinks Death Proof is his worst film. I love it. I love the old drive-in quality of it. The sound of it. The mimicking of skipped scenes and scratchy film. The dated way it's presented. I spent a lot of time in drive-ins, lots of memories with the style.
I love Kurt Russell stepping out of his pretty boy roles to be this guy. Not what you expect from the computer who wore tennis shoes.
The first set of girls are my favorite. The victims. While the second set of girls are the victorious gladiators, they just don't deliver the same quality of performance in my mind. Their set-up is bad. But Kurt comes through in both stories. He is introduced and showcased in the first story and more the ominous presence in the second.
I haven’t watched Death Proof yet, but from what I’ve heard a lot of his fans say it doesn’t have the same kinda charm his other movies do. Some say it drags on, some say the characters aren’t interesting. A slasher film is also a little out of the blue compared to his other films I guess. Out of his films I’ve seen in their entirety, my personal favorite is Reservoir Dogs.
I have seen Machete, but I need to watch it again. For some reason, I have pretty much forgotten the plot. Just, don't remember it.Awesome movie.
The cast is great. Especially Kurt Russell. Love that Sidney Poitier and Cheryl Ladd's daughters are in it as well.
This movie ties nicely with From Dusk Til Dawn. That movie is really the first of Tarantino and Rodriguez's grindhouse style films.
You should watch Machete if you have't seen it yet.
That's unintentionally funny actually (I think that is a British expression meaning you've lost it) i.e. one brick short of a load, one bottle short of a six pack, etc. The elevator does not go up to the top floor... and so onI have pretty much forgotten the plot.
Well, I didn't mean it those ways. I literally can't remember the plot of the movie.
