I thought this was a terrific movie. I loved how The Shining was integrated into this story. Brilliant and creative. The actors they got for Shelly Duvall, Scatman Crothers and the kid were much better than the originals.

A missed opportunity, to me, was when
Lloyd the bartender was a Jack lookalike. In that scene, I knew it was going to be Jack Torrance before they showed him, and I was hoping beyond hope that when they showed him, it would actually be Jack Nicholson. But unfortunately, it wasn't.

Rose the Hat was perfect and her rag tag bunch of misfits were good too. Abra did good work.

Great job with this one.

1.The Irishman 2. Sweetheart 3. Ready Or Not

This reminded me, I also watched The Irishman. For as long as this was, it went by very quickly.

I've seen some controversy about this on my newsfeed.

One was that Scorsese is misogynist with his movies. Sigh. Get over it. Martin is a man from a certain time in history. And his movies are more historical in nature. He has to be true to the times, people!

It was a man's world and that's the movies he likes to make. Good for him! He wasn't put on this earth to give equal time to everyone who gets butthurt that women have no voice in his movies. He has a right to make the movies that interest him.

And I think they are fascinating. They are little views into what was, what is still happening and what needs to change in the world. Bravo Martin! You keep doing you.

The second thing I saw was people complaining about Anna Paquin's nonvocal role. Did you people watch the damn movie? Are you so far up your own butt you can't see the brilliance of her performance (and the little girl who played her)? EVERYTHING was said without saying a word.

Let me say it again, her and the little girl's acting said everything that needed to be said without saying a word. You knew exactly what this character was thinking and feeling every single time we looked at her face.

Woman had their place in that time. They were to be giggly, vapid pieces of furniture to compliment a man's life. And Anna's character was a great example of that in a Mafia Man's House. She was a quiet observer. She represented all of the people who had no voice, who stood back and watched the mob run their rackets and control their neighborhoods, too fearful, angry and impotent to Say. A. Word.

This character learned very early what her dad was all about when he beat the grocery store man on her behalf. She was a female in a criminal home. She learned to be quiet and watchful. She was changed as a child and it shaped her as an adult.

Go watch it again if you are one of these people screeching about Scorsese not using Paquin properly. The women in this movie did a great job portraying women of that time, in that subculture. If Scorsese would've used strong female characters in this culture, it would have been a cheat and a lie. You don't do that just to fill a quota to appease groups of rabid right-fighters.

I haven't seen it yet but it has a hell of a cast.....with the exception of Daniel Craig, just can't take to him at all, his performances leave me cold.
I'm sort of meh about Daniel Craig, but For some reason, he works in this role.

He does a great job with a southern accent. Reminded me of Kevin Spacey in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

Only have a hazy recollection of Spacey in Midnight....hazy on the whole film to be honest, a murder trial or something....

I forgot to mention Ewan. I thought he fit the Danny role so well. I was right there with him.

it's been a long time since I read the book and not sure how they dealt with this or if stephen even goes there but

in the movie, I was thinking, if you are always with the people dying, they are going to start looking at you as a mercy killer.

Was this talked about in the book, addressed at all? I just can't remember.

Picked up a dvd of The Howling at Goodwill. Watched it on Sunday. It holds up quite well for an 80's horror movie. I love all of the cameos and easter eggs they used throughout. This had some spectacular special effects before CGI was a thing. Made a star of actress Dee Wallace who went on to be the Mom in ET and Cujo.

The Good Liar.

Saw it on the big screen with Grandma. Very enjoyable movie to set up a good date night. Nice to see Dame Mirren and Sir McKellen immersed in their acting chops. Grim a couple times, and fun all the way through.

Maybe it's just me, but I have little probabilities running in my head of where the plot could go, and while I can't say I had it figured out, the resolution had gotten my highest probability. Yes, that's a mini-brag.

MIB International.

It was okay. I saw it on the plane, and I didn't turn it off,, so more than can be said for some other movies.

On the other hand, the plane landed just as the movie was reaching a Big Plot Development, and I shrugged it off. I'm mildly curious, so I might return to it on Netflix or Amazon to see how it ends up. Might. Not if I have to pay for it, though.

.....I see what you're saying, but he attended them only.....he wasn't administering lethal doses of meds or smothering them with their Depends.....his was a job that he felt blessed in, being able to ease the passing into eternal slumber.....

Oh, I know that he was doing a good job and he knew it also -- but the authorities tend to see numbers.

So, a high number passing = Ewan working.

Of course, this is a damn nursing home so the turnover is going to be brisk.
