Come on! Nobody mentioned Lee Child? 20 fantastic Reacher novels under his belt?

I LOVE REACHER. I think he's one of the most interesting fictional characters ever created. Dude's got unplumbed depths.

Not to mention Child describes him as 6'5" with hands like hams. You'd never be afraid to venture into a dark alley with Reacher at your side. I just want to pull him out of the pages & convince him to come home with me. (He's getting up there now. He might want to settle down again :love_heart:)

After all, Child shockingly had Reacher actually wanting to travel a bit with the woman he slept with at the end of Make Me....

....it could happen

I'm fairly sure we have a Lee Child thread or two in this forum.

Personally, I wasn't impressed. I only read the first book and there were to many times I predicted what would happen. As well as one time when all I could think was
"he's really that stupid? Even I know that 'safe house' is a trap"

Of course having all of 5'7" Tom Cruise play reacher in the movie should make it an improvement. ;;D

I love the Reacher books, but I'm ready for Child to do something else. ANYTHING else. Unfortunately, that's not allowed by the publishing companies any more.
When they did their on stage conversation last fall, Steve asked him about whether he would like to write anything else. Lee's response was that he has had a number of ideas but that "some writers aren't as prolific as others" and gave Steve a look (everyone laughed) and that he didn't think it fair to his fan base who would be expecting another Reacher novel if he took time out to write something different.

i love lee child and i love jack reacher, but i think he should definitely be allowed to branch out. if i like an author that much i'll try their other stuff no problem. if he can make me love to keep up with jack reacher, he can make me love to keep up with someone else. case in point, guy named andy mcdermott, who i wouldn't say is prolific by any means, wrote a series with a couple characters, nina wilde (archaeologist) and eddie chase (bodyguard turned husband), where they went on many adventures, discovering old legends, and leaving a large swath of destruction behind, mostly due to fighting off bad guys. call them the wrecking balls of the archaeology world. the books are fun, the characters are fun. and when andy mcdermott put out a book that went in a totally different direction, i didn't hesitate to buy it, based on how much i liked his other adventures

I looked the Nina Wilde books up on Amazon and they look really interesting. I had never heard of them before. Thanks for the recommendation.
