I don't know if you wanted to reference any of this, but his sister sent me one of the bookmarks they had printed up and had been giving out at his celebration of life. A couple weeks beforehand they had asked me about some of his favourite books and wanted Stephen King quotes to choose from. They went with these two.
The bookmark makes me smile and cry...
Oh, FlakeNoir that touched the heart and soul and brought tears.

Maybe something like this- with SKMB between the wings. Having the halo wider to contain the eternal member names written within it.

The universe has no love for your favorite Lady of Lepp.

Last week, my laptop's hard drive took a dump. All of my written work is backed up on the cloud, so, yay!

But all of the artwork I've done on the comic is gone. All of it was digital, drawn freehand on a tablet and saved as pdf files. And none of it was backed up. Even the scantily clad redhead is gone. There are the odd screenshots here and there, but the hi-resolution files are history. Totally my bad, but no less heartbreaking.

We took the laptop to an ace computer whiz but got word last night that all hope is lost. It's toast.

If I want to pursue that project, I have to start from scratch.

At this point, I just don't know if I have that much fight left in me.

I can understand you not having the fight in you right now; you've been through the briarpatch a lot lately. I hope you will allow yourself a few weeks to soak in what has happened and then, when the time is right, pick up your pencils again. The same desire for expressing yourself through art, which has sustained you in the past, will return. I'm thankful you have your written work.

That's weird. Going through, I'm seeing that a lot of images that can't be displayed because I'm not a Photobucket prime member. But... not all of those pictures were on Photobucket. Most of them weren't, in fact. So... why?

Perhaps they bought those other sites?

I recommend using Google's Blogger/Blogspot. Many of us have Google accounts, anyway.

Just make as if you were creating a blog entry, upload an image, and then use that image anywhere else. No need to actually publish a blog. That is what I do and the pics are visible anywhere. For free.

That's what I did, only on Wordpress. Most of them are/were there.

Thanks to computer brain farts, I lost the swan page. But I have screenshots and original drawings, so I'm good.
I still love my job.

I am so paranoid about this that whenever I am editing pics on my computer I saved the file twice after a few minutes, always keeping the two files up to date. So, if one fails, the other will hopefully be okay.

I thought I was being safe by saving to the cloud instead of my local drive, but it didn't work that way. The swan page was the last one I worked on before the comp spewed forth its digital flatus, so it must have saved as an invalid file. What saved my bacon was having the original sketches on paper and screen caps I took of the page.
As it happens, the swan has to come off the page anyway. I need more room on the page for the rest of that story. Universe actually did me a favor, in a way. I was having trouble killing that darling. Now it's a goner anyway, so I'm spared the torture of taing it off the page myself. It's just going to be the woman.
And lesson learned. I'm saving my files in two spots.

I dunno if anybody remembers the flame-haired woman with the skimpy dress. Looking at it, I decided that the dress couldn't look like that. In one panel, the woman has the slip of fabric loose in both hands, and in the next few, she's dressed. How can that happen with all those chains and things? I couldn't resolve that. Not even in comic fiction. So, I changed it up a little bit. Now, the top is a cross top halter, and the bottom is tied as well. four corners, two ties. I actually took a sheet out of the linen closet and did the ties to see how it could work. I had to cross the fabric in the back to bring the two bottom corners to the front and tie them.
Boring stuff, I know. But here's the resulting design.
Old dress and new design, side by side. Spoiler'd because of skimpiness.

I'm delighted that I got to keep the bared midriff.
:fox:
Tomorrow, I plan to draw it up properly.

Hey all. I'm keeping busy with the swan girl - even with the swan removed from the page.
The first time we see her inside the book is when a guy sees her standing in a body of water, facing away, holding the sheet that will become her wrap dress. Here's what I've got so far:
Spoiler'd because the sheet's wet, semi-transparent.

Next up, I fix that hair. Then do something with the jungle.
