Shutter Island- Dennis Lehane

Sleep No More- Greg Iles
This is a wonderful novel. Even better because it's his very first book. Steve went on GMA (or one of the other morning shows) to defend it with the author after it was panned in the New York Times. As far as I know, Steve's only done something like this twice- the other time was when he surprised Justin Cronin by calling in to GMA to praise him for his book The Passage.

That's one of the things I love about Sai King. The man really does seem to be a class act.

I didn't know it was panned. Huh. I thought it was a killer read; couldn't stop thinking about it. When it first came out in paperback I saw it at the grocery store and picked it up. Ten minutes later, standing in the book aisle, I was still reading. If I'd had a lawn chair I probably would've camped out there. For me, the New York Times are not, nor ever will be, the last word in good taste.
