apologize for the misleading title, I am not a detective. I grew up In Brewer/Bangor Maine and have read 80% of Kings stuff. I remember watching part of the filming of pet semetery at Mt Hope cemetery. I snagged some cool fatigues from a set yard sale after the graveyard shift filming. I used to see Stephen King at lots of UMO women's basketball games in the early 90's. We used to love trick or treating at his house in the 80's before it became an inconvenience due to people steeling his metal bat from his fence...anyway I have come to enjoy his writing for its familiarity to locals as much as i enjoy its originality. Has any other King fan on this site or other compiled a list of stories/references in his books that are based on facts? I am asking because I have always been aware of his writing including "real life" references to Bangor and other parts of Maine. Several back stories in "IT" actually took place in the Bangor area, an example being the Brady Gang massacre, the ax murder story based on Jim Cullen's lynching, the murder of the gay man thrown from the bridge (not proud to say that we as kids in the 80's called it chuck-a-homo bridge), Bass park and the iconic Paul Bunyan statue. I constantly annoy my wife my "astute Maniac knowledge" in regards to references to Maine in all of King's books and movies (Freeses shirt worn by Eddie in the new IT movie!). Anyway, glad to finally chat with fellow King fans about a passion I have had for a long time.
