Here's a suggestion for Ms. Mod. Please note this was thought of before the thread about King answering questions on Twitter and is not derivative of that conversation; I just happen to be posting this after that.

It's always fascinating and fun to attempt to come up with new ways of promoting products. I think this could be a fun thing to do. Perhaps Ms. Mod should interview King on video at his Bangor estate. Do a brief house tour, check out his writing room there, etc.

Then, you could have a discussion of The Bazaar of Bad Dreams. Followed by questions you solicit from this message board. You could choose longtime members who have posted a lot. In this way, you could control the flow and quantity of questions (I'm not as active as others here, so that would essentially eliminate me, which I mention to make the point that this is not a biased-based idea, just something I would like to see).

The video could then be shared on YouTube, King's Facebook page, news outlets, etc. Perhaps it could eliminate an appearance or two that King would have had to make to sell the book, thus promoting an efficiency. You could explain what you do in the King organization and some stuff about the history of the board -- all the discussions people have had over the years, the Halloween stories it produces, etc.

Anyway, something different to try. I am looking forward to the collection, but I have to say it again: why not August 3 or September 3 instead of November 3! (In all seriousness, it's too bad more books of high anticipation are not released in August because once August rolls around, you wish for the month to go by quickly so you can get to the autumn releases, and who wants to do something like that when August should go by slow and be savored.)

Stephen's homes are off limits. They are the Kings' residences and it's hard enough to maintain a private life so that's one of the boundaries/restrictions they put in place.

I'm pretty sure the November release dates picked by the publisher are timed to coincide with the holiday season sales.

Thanks for the reply Ms. Mod. I believe in the past he was interviewed several times at the famous Maine estate, but apparently that has changed. I think I even remember one interview showing his old Wang computer (and I believe that old syndicated special he did, maybe called Stephen King's World of Horror, also showed his house, but maybe I am wrong on that).

Stephen King gives so much of himself already. Let him be a husband, dad, grandpa in peace. We do not need a "Home Beautiful"
(just dated myself) layout. Bravo for the restrictions (even if this means GNTL GNT may never get into the kitchen).

If I recall correctly, his books are general in Spring and Fall. Perfect timing for gifting during the holidays.

Yes, there have been photo shoots in the past but it's not something that's been done for quite some time. He did do a couple recent interviews that were identified as being done in their homes which is technically correct as they owned them, but they were not ones they live in as their primary residence--they were guest houses.

I like this idea but respect peace and privacy even more!

Thanks for the reply. Perhaps that is the case, but the other part of the idea I think still has validity. Such a hypothetical interview could take place anywhere.
