Hugh Laurie. That is all.

He has the intensity, but he seems better at playing the slightly goofy roles - I was recalling the Jeeves and Wooster series.

He was quite good as House.

(I guess as long as he does not break into his real British accent, it might work).

I know him only from his role as House (and from a couple of commercials, that was REALLY weird to hear his British accent, as I saw episodes of House earlier than those commercials, so I was used to him speaking with an American accent). Based on that I think he could pull it off.

He had the right attitude as House, that's for sure.

I don't like him for Roland for a host of reasons.

I actually think he'd make a great Randall Flagg. But a horrible Walter. I cannot picture Walter with a southern twang. I just can't do it. McConaughey isn't really as versatile as that; he can't mask that accent of his, and while that's okay for Flagg, Walter I just can't see talking that way. I'd rather get someone to play both roles (he's been offered both, which is weird, almost like the filmmakers care), but someone who really can slip between a "fantasy dark sorcerer" persona and Flagg's all-American persona. I have a person in mind, but that's for later.

I do think that Hugh Laurie could play Roland. It just seems that whenever I bring him up, I'm shouted down. He's a very talented actor with tons of range, and he's got the blue eyes and weathered look, for sure.
