This movie is deserving of an unrated bluray release. We love it! The edits detract from the film. Bravo Mr. King. Please put your hat in the ring again. If you look at other movies from this golden era of horror, Maximum Overdrive defines the era along with Evil Dead, Videodrome, Re-Animator and others. Please give us the gore that made Romero puke.

Yes indeed! This needs a BluRay release badly.

It's one of those movies that I've gotta watch if I stumble across it on late-night cable.. I'm a Emilio Estevez fan (mostly because of "Repo Man"), and the soundtrack is perfect for such a campy movie.

I remember listening to the soundtrack for hours, during our road-trips back in college while staring out the window of the bus/van at the trucks..

Having a day off and some rare time to myself, I actually watched Maximum Overdrive yesterday! I had it on saved movies and I'd just joined this board so it seemed like a cool thing to do. I was actually kind of surprised at how good it was. Rotten Tomatoes gave it one star! I mean, it was no "Mulholland Drive", but it really kept me on the edge of my seat. And you know, when was Emilio Estevez any better? "The Breakfast Club". Yeah, but that's it! Where else? He was great here. I can't recall him well cast in anything else. For a first time, and I suppose last time, director, Stephen King did quite a competent job. Someone on Rotten Tomatoes says that King has mentioned that this was done at the height of his substance abuse. If true, maybe it helped more than hurt. :) The film has a definite John Carpenter feel. And it's not dated/marred by blaring 1980's music like so many films of that era. Speaking of John Carpenter, wasn't that 'Halloween 3' music on the Maximum Overdrive trailer? I could swear it was.
