Too late to edit now - 10 minutes have gone by - I just realize I sound like a hypochondriac here!

Mostly his left side; theres a particular spot that wraps around the body. Google it. If you do have shingles you should get to the doctor for treatment.
I actually had it in February 2013 believe it or not but the pain seemed to linger on and actually came back over the next year. I did go see a doctor but he said there was nothing he could do about it. Since then it turns out I could have gotten the vaccination after the fact to help it heal faster. I just used capsaican cream on the area which caused even more burning pain but it also helps it to heal faster.

My husband caught it very early and the doctor gave him a prescription for something to take which helped speed up recovery time. He used calamine lotion to alleviate the itchiness and burning. I've heard the pain can become chronic. I hope it dissipates for you soon.

Where did he get his? Mine was over my left hip and now it seems like my left side is where I get a lot of pain lately - swollen left ankle, sore left shoulder, joint pain etc. Is that what they call post herpetic neuralgia - yikes!
(Maybe I just had a stroke) oh God I hope not!
I can't even lift my left foot up high anymore when I have to put on boots.
...yeah, the virus follows the dermatomes or nerve pathways and wreak havoc when they do...and that pain never leaves I am sorry to say...
