Tomorrow, August 24th will be the One Year Anniversary of Nate's passing to the clearing.

Let us reminisce.

Asking who(m) ever would like to write a memory they had about him. Or a funny remark he made at some point that made them smile. Or just to raise a glass in honor of what he means to the SKMB family.

My favorite memory of Nate is from the old board, when we had the little boards to play on in the evenings and weekends. It was one of those parties Sigmund organized, I don't remember if it was an occasion or just because.

Everyone was posting fast and furious, talking, laughing, posting food and drink pics. Someone (I don't remember who) said it was about time for the dancing on the tables to commence.

I said I was ready to dance on the table or something to that effect. Then it got so quiet! No one was posting anymore! So I said, Jeez. Thought we were dancing. Where did everyone go? I need help back down off this table.

And Nate posted

Just that smiley face. But it was like he was sitting right next to me and I could hear him laughing.

We talked books and beer and DT and music...but that one smiley face post is what I always think of when I think of Nate. :)

Miss you, Nate. :love_heart:

....I mostly remember his dry wit....he would sit back, soak up the BS being flung-and at the most unexpected moment, he would quietly drop a comment that just put us on the floor....I am fighting tears right now, but I'm not going to give in to them at this moment...he would dope slap me if he were here...I miss ya buddy....can't tell you how much....except I did tell him I loved him....

Who was he? How did he die?
As Scott stated, Nate was a long time member, quiet in his ways, but spoke volumes when he did speak. He had attended the KingKon meeting just weeks before. (It is practice that those who attend post pictures of the happenings so we can all feel "part of" the event). Thus his tragic death was so unexpected by all. Nate touched so many on the SKMB. He is the embodiment of Ka-Tet. Rest easy, Nate.

....Nate was a very well liked member of this group that tragically entered the clearing a year ago in a motorcycle crash.....

That's horrible, i'm terrified of motorcycles and I've never even been on one. My grandma and her husband were in a motorcycle crash in the 80's, he ended up losing a leg, and then they had to take the other one. He ended up killing himself shortly after losing the other leg. Unfortunately I never met him, he killed himself a few years before I was born. That's why my grandma has always forbid me to get on a motorcycle.

Never knew the guy but it's obvious he was well loved here on this message board. What a cool way to gain posterity. I hope his family reads these posts.
...they do Mal, and while you were away-his Mom joined us as a member so she could get closer to those of us who loved Nate and understand his allegiance to and appreciation of King's works....

His laugh, I miss his laugh so much, it was incredibly infectious... it was impossible to keep a straight face if he was laughing. He was quiet until you got to know him well, then he was just a cheeky smart arse.
He was super loyal and very caring and always gave people the benefit of the doubt. He loved his music, his bike, his brewing and the people in his life. He was a good man and a treasured friend.

I cannot believe it has been a whole year since we last spoke, I love and miss you Naters, every day... and if we do go on in this wonderland that we call life, well then I hope that we will cross paths again.

Continue resting my friend... ♥

Met Nate at the King Kon in Ohio 2014 - came across as quiet and sort of shy but you got the impression he was super intelligent and liked to sit back and observe people.

He had excellent manners and although he was in his late 20s he seemed much more mature. An overall really nice person - guess me old Mom's expression does have some merit - "Only the good die young"
