When Ben Hanscom goes back to the library of Derry in 1985 he find an office door with the writing: MICHAEL NALON, CHIEF OF LIBRARY.
But this is a mistake because our Mike Hanlon is not NALON. I am not sure if in my Spanish translation there is a mistake. But I suspect it is like that in the original English version.
What I am interpreting now is that when the Black (they would say nigro) Mike got the job as Chief of the Library for only $ 11 000 somebody wrote wrongly his name and Mike didn't insist to change it accepting the mistake. But all this is my imagination not written in the book nowhere. Could you imagine a racist detail from that wrong panel? Am I right?

Thank you. I couldn't check by myself. I am going to buy the English version in Amazon maybe :)
Another points more:
1. It is common to call the number one of a library "Head of Librarians". If he was white, would he be called "Director of the Library"?
2. At the point of telling the story of the gays Mellon and Hagarty the narrative voice says that Hanlon is an amateur of the city. In reality, isn't Mike Hanlon an Historian (if he was white)?
Also my point is:
Michael Hanlon is an Historian and Director of the Derry's Library.
Am I being a paranoic? Do you think these points are not really in the book?

Wondering why you are insisting on making this a racial issue?
