True enough. To Kill A Mockingbird was a high school assignment and ended up on my Top Three of All Time.

On the other hand, I drudged wearily through Lord of the Flies, then picked it up again a few years later, reread it, and it was a lot better than I'd remembered.

It's an interpersonal drama thing, I think. I'm more compelled by what will happen to people, what does happen to them, what they do, and so on. But who they fall in love with, what happens to their love, how they get upset with each other and reconcile, or not - those make for great themes in literature, but thematically, I'm just not there so much.

And I hate to say it, but I'm the same way in real life when people are talking about their interactions with others. I often zone out. I could never do the work that Sigmund or danie do. It would take too much caring about how people are relating to one another. Different tastes.
Believe me, sixth-graders' stories can get old fast. But I try to not zone out, especially since I may be the only adult that gives a care about what they're saying. I'm much more likely to daydream when adults are talking. Unless they're funny, I tend to find them boring.

See, we are brain twins! I'm usually the one at a BBQ/family friendly party who wanders away from the adults to go talk to the kids (or to play with the dog) :)

Twinners, for sure! Especially at family get-togethers, they tend to tell the same ol stories I heard last time I saw them.

Wha......???? My favorite musical!!!! :near_tears:

I do admit, there are a few scenes where I'm like ... meh ... like the song "Cool" where the Jets meet after the fight. I hate that scene of the movie.
No you don't. It fits perfectly. That movie is a pure work of art, one of the greatest movies ever.

I really do hate that scene... Keep coolie cool boy... don't act like a yoyo school boy (blech)!
I do agree the rest of the movie is a masterpiece. It's my favorite musical and is in my Top 5 favorite movies of all time.

We had a movie night with good friends and popped in West Side Story to watch and enjoy a classic that none of us remembered all that well from childhood, and it was just......

Well. Never mind. I see how the conversation is going, and passions run high.

It's my favorite musical, too. It's hard to say where it ranks in my Top List. There are so many favorites.
