Hey, all. I stopped in after a LOOOONNG absence, to find the entire site overhauled! It looks great, but the Community section appears to be gone.

This is the kind of thing I would have posted in one or more of the Community Writing/Writers groups. I'm an indie author, and my story "Crush" has just been published in an anthology called AXES OF EVIL.

And it's #9 on Amazon's Horror Anthologies best sellers list RIGHT NOW! SOOOO EXCITED!!!!

Amazon Best Sellers: Best Horror Anthologies

So, really, if you're a fan of both heavy metal and horror, you might want to take a gander at the book and help us out. It's over 500 pages of metal-themed stories. Del James (DEL FREAKIN' JAMES, who wrote the story that Guns 'N' Roses "November Rain" video was based on, and who edited my all-time favourite metal magazine of the late 80s/early 90s!) contributed a story. And, apparently, the book got some mention on VH1's metal show this weekend. This is the sort of thing I dreamed about as a high school metalhead, and it's an astounding accomplishment--not just for me, but for the whole group involved. Pick up a copy (and at only $4 for the ebook version) and you won't be disappointed!

Thanks, booklover72! :) The editor, Alex S. Johnson, and his partner, Charie De La Marr. have been promoting it on every channel they can. Over on the Horror Writers' Association Facebook page, we discuss the merits of writing when you're not likely to see much money from it, if any. (My goal for 2014 is to make one professional sale, but the pro markets are VERY tough to crack--they see 1000 submissions for every call, so the competition is fierce). I had to point out that once in a while, a project comes along that is just so DAMNED COOL, it's a thrill just to be part of it. The leading story in the book is by Del James. DEL FREAKIN' JAMES, who wrote the story that Guns 'N' Roses' "November Rain" video is based on, and who edited RIP, probably my all-time favourite metal magazine! I could die from excitement, and my name is on a Table of Contents with DEL FREAKIN' JAMES! This is the kind of thing I dreamed of as a high school metalhead, and a fan of both metal and horror. Maybe I'll never be a "real" writer in the sense that Mr. King writes about in _On Writing_ (that is, writing for money and paying the light bill with the residuals), but this is the kind of thing I want to be able to talk about in my old age. No one cares about your light bills. :)

Oh, and ps--I also just got a story accepted to Fox Spirit (UK publisher)'s Drag Noir anthology, and received my contributor's copy of Perpetual Motion Machine Publishing's Long Distance Drunks: A Tribute to Charles Bukowski with my story in it. And my story "Womb Envy" is up over on the e-zine Geek Force Five right now. So yeah, the last month and a half has been so much fun, writing-wise. :) I love that there are people in this group who don't mind me crowing. I try not to do it often. :)

I'm also trying to get together some money to send a couple of books to a project one of my writer friends has going, where he sends (signed) books from indie authors to soldiers over in Afghanistan. I'm not just all about my own ego-stroking; I like being part of the indie horror community and knowing that people will get the books and appreciate them. :)
