I didn't think I'd ever like a series more than I liked Breaking Bad but Mr. Mercedes wins! :) The season finale (which is also the finale to the first book in the trilogy) couldn't have been better :)

I was expecting Brady's eyes to open like they would have in a low budget horror movie. I was glad when they didn't lol.
 Same! I was thinking please DON'T do that!!

Love the show. Love the casting. I was a little concerned when Holly came on board because she looks so young but they mentioned at one point that she was in her 30's and I love her and want to hug her. Same with Jerome. I also like the addition of the Ida character. So glad it was renewed for a second season. I want the whole trilogy done!

Do you know if the second season will be about Finders Keepers or End of Watch? I'm hoping if it's Finders Keepers, Hodge's will be added as a major role player :)

I'm not sure, I haven't heard anything about what they're doing but I would love if they did three seasons, one for each book.

Jack Bender said he plans to do Finders Keepers next, but there are some structural issues form him to solve -- the one you mentioned and the fact that Bill is offstage for a big chunk of the beginning of the novel.

I have to put SKs movies/TV/Miniseries in a different category than his book. Yes, tons of changes but it was so well done and it all made sense. Plus, now I'm very interested to see how the other books in the trilogy will be handled as a series. I hear that's coming and I cannot wait!
I thought it kept to the book a lot better than other adaptions.

I agree. Even though it deviated from the book, both in characters and in plot, everyone did a great job. It was a superb cast, great production, music--all of it was wonderful. I always thought David E Kelley as one of the most talented in the business.

Gonna be in the minority on this one.

This should have been half the episodes. The pace was glacially slow.

Found it longer and slower than the book. Every time they went back to the electronics store I wanted to scream! Sooooo boring with such dull characters.

Harry Treadaway was the standout.

First 8 minutes and the last two episodes were really well done.

Just started watching. Three episodes in, and I must say David Kelley did a splendid job adapting this book. I like the changes I've seen so far, especially Ida. She gives Hodges something to play against rather than the viewer deal with him internalising all his depression like in the book. Brendan Gleeson was a great choice, and I'm glad they tweaked his character a bit so he could keep his natural accent. I'll write some more about this once I've completed the season.

So, season two is finders keppepers.

Is it? Haven't seen any casting announcements for the boy and his family. Looks like they are skipping to the third book.

Are you maybe confusing it with this DVD?

Mr Mercedes starts on our TV channel C more this Thursday and I'm going to watch it. I became super happy when I found out that
they are show it in Finland as well. The loved the book now I hope the series will also be good.
I watched the first two episodes, which were pretty good - now I'm looking forward to seeing the next two - I recorded them but I'm saving them for when I'm in the right mood.
