Hi guys. I hope this works.

This is driving me crazy. I'm looking for the song by the female singer playing in the background. Sounds a bit like Bonnie Raitt or Lucinda Williams. It's the barroom scene in the first part of the series, about 40 minutes into the movie. The actors are dubbed into what I believe to be Hungarian, which isn't important.

The Alt-Americana song which plays after the one I'm looking for is by Todd Thibaud, by the way.

I've gone as far as E-Mailing Gary Chang who did the music for the series. Sadly, I've received no reply. I'm hoping one of ya'll may be able to help me with this - I'm losing sleep. :biggrin-new:

It's not any of these songs. If you listen to the clip, you can hear it in the background, but my hearing isn't good enough to pick up on who it is. I tried googling what few lyrics I did hear but came up empty handed.

...I couldn't hear anything distinct over those damn people talking!!!!....friggin' actors anyway....what I could discern from tone & timbre, it could be any of a dozen female singers...I even looked back at the Billboard Hot 100 for 2001, figuring a juke would be playing hits from the year the movie was filmed...can't find quite the right voice....

You guys are really sweet, thanks so much. I thank you all for taking the time and trying to help. I should mention that neither song - the one I'm looking for and the Todd Thibaud - is on the soundtrack. Neither is either one mentioned in the movie credits.

To make things even easier, the Todd Thibaud track is from 1998...:a11:

Stephen King is a mystery writer alright. :friendly_wink:

Hi all,

just a quick note. You all were so very nice in trying to help me out with the song. Unfortunately I've made no progress - no answer from Mr. Chang and the title is still unknown to me.

I'm grasping at straws here. I understand the need for Mr. King's privacy and don't wish to contact him directly. But perhaps the webmaster could get a message to him and ask about the song? I know Stephen's also a musician and I believe he may even have possibly placed those two rather obscure songs in the background of the scene. It wouldn't surprise me.

I'm desperate, as you can tell.

Thanks again for all your help. :biggrin2:
