I just finished Revival a couple of days ago, hot on the heels of Doctor Sleep. I really enjoyed the old-school feel of this novel. Not my favorite SK novel, but a solid entry into King's library and a very enjoyable read.

I loved the Charles Jacobs character. To see him transform from a young bright-eyed minister to a terrifying mix of Howard Hughes/Nikola Tesla/Dr. Frankenstein (and others) was my favorite part of this novel. Mr. King is such a master at developing complex characters.

I greatly enjoyed the third act of the novel. The story took a very dark, twisted turn and I couldn't get enough of it! The grim depiction of the afterlife was nightmarish, to say the least.

Overall, a very entertaining read. The more I think about this novel, the more I like it. This one will definitely stick with me for a while.

Rating: 8/10

Up Next: A short break from SK, as I read Gillian Flynn's Dark Places.

I just finished Revival yesterday and thought it was glorious. Like you said that ending will be stuck in my head for some time.
Glad you liked it. The ending was very dark, to say the least. An underrated novel, in my opinion.

Very underrated! For me the darker and more bizarre the better. Would love to see this made into a film especially the ending with the things they can do now in movies.

I can't figure out why it didn't resonate with me much. It's only been a few months ago and I remember almost nothing about it other than a rough outline of the story. I literally couldn't even remember the main characters names before I opened this. When I finished it, I remember thinking, Eh, that wasn't too bad, but it definitely wasn't one of my favorites or anything. Four months down the road it's almost a complete blank in my mind, whereas there are many SK books I haven't read for 10 or 15 years and I can remember almost every detail still.

I will be curious when I re-read it one day, whether I get any more out of it. That happens sometimes.
