I'm with you. In my house a well loved book looks like one. The pristine ones are the ones I didnt love. They dont make the grade of the bookcase for long though.I would probably be terrible if I ever owned a signed book from Stephen--I would utterly appall collectors because--as I would have no intention of selling it on, I'd probably hug it and squeeze it (and call it George) and keep turning to the signature day after day.
Yep, pretty soon it'd probably start to resemble my other well-loved stories.
