I thought the first episode was pretty good. Liked the fact that the girl who plays Vic looks like a real person and not someone from central casting. The 1938 Wraith is cool as well. Mixed on Charlie Manx. He is being played in a kind of graphic novel/comic book type way. Over the top. It works in a certain way in the context of the story which has a kind of fantasy element but is also a bit silly. I give it a B+ so far. They are advertising this as "season 1". Does that mean they are going beyond the book? That might be a mistake to prolong this too much.

We're also in a time now where we have all these options, with cable and streaming, to tell really expansive stories. But this first season of NOS4A2tackles roughly the first half of the book.

A little less than the first half. When Jami read the book, she sort of correctly saw that there was a breakpoint where the story shifts into a different gear. Her feeling was, really, in some ways, NOS4A2 is two or maybe three stories that could be full seasons. She found one of these breakpoints and so yeah, season one is a totally self-contained, totally satisfying story. But it is not the full book.

The wife and I were talking about this series. I taped the first episode but we haven’t watched it, yet. The wife said she’d like to read one of Hill’s stories some time. I told her I got her a copy of Horns years ago. She didn’t believe me, and said ‘bet you can’t find it because we don’t have it.’ Took me all of 2 minutes to find it. I was right… I’m always right! :)

Yap, it's hard to understand the mother.
No issues to understand her dad.
Wasn't an issue in The Punisher either (he played David Lieberman)

You’re welcome.

I can understand her just fine. The accents they are using are too exaggerated. It’s the cliche Boston accent they use for like 99% of TV and movies. I grew up there. It does not sound like that!
