I just watched the YouTube replay, but I skipped around a bit...I did not hear mention of the Talisman sequel or the Owen King collaboration. Was it mentioned during the event proper, or during one of the interviews around it? Speaking of which, during an interview, did I hear correctly that he is working on a book that centers on one of the characters from the Hodges trilogy (please note, I do not know if I have that correct or not, as I have not located any mention of that in any other source)?

Maybe I saw a truncated show.

I just have to say...yesterday was the one of the greatest days of my life. My son and I were sitting center stage right behind the reserved section. So basically like 3 rows back. SK was so funny. Witty. Charming. Just amazing! I really am so grateful to have gotten the chance to finally see him in person and hear him speak. Thank you to Ms. Mod and everyone involved with this event!

It seems like some people were complaining about the questions that were asked of SK at the end...I get it, but I would also say that I think SK said everything he wanted to say about a lot of topics in On Writing. Also, I noticed how people literally were jumping over each other to line up. So I guess if you have a great question you really need to plan out where to sit ahead of time and muscle your way to that mic before someone else can. Especially when he only has time to answer like 4 or 5 questions.

I thought about getting to the mic quick cause I was seated pretty close, but I honestly couldn't think of anything good to ask so I stayed put. I was still just kind of in awe of just being there. I honestly would probably only have asked a parenting question that people would think was more lame...but I would have been more curious about how he felt as a father seeing Joe and Owen following in his footsteps and what advice he would give other parents on encouraging their own children to pursue their dreams. I always hear people talk about where so and so gets their ideas and I am always kind of surprised by people wanting to know that. That actually doesn't ever interest me because in my heart I feel that the answer is simple. In your own life. We all have unique lives and daily experiences to pull ideas from if we clear our mind from the clutter and noise of the world. Find your own truth and I think it will resonate with others. So to me, in all forms of art it isn't the idea that matters...it's the execution.

Overall, what makes me happier than anything is that I got to experience the day with my son. He was so happy and excited all day. The memory of yesterday...us getting to do that together will last his entire life. That I am sure of. And maybe yesterday will be that defining memory that propels my son to succeed in ways that I never have.

The other highlight was that my son and I got to meet Justin Cronin and chat with him. He signed two books for us - one for each of my kids!

Best day ever! I'm unbelievably tired since it was a 3 hour drive each way...but really - No complaints!

Glad you and your son had a good time! That would have been an awesome question! I love kings spontaneity when answering questions. Nobody Should complain about the questions because EVERYONE has their own experience with King and his work. And their own questions! I am sure everyone of them went home and told their family and friends they asked king an awesome question! And you are right just being there was a great honor! I could go see him speak 100 times. Learn something new everytime!

Sounds like you might be watching an interview or something else? I song remember the Mercedes talk. Someone asked a question about talisman at end. Owen king quote came in the middle when he was talking about his 3 kids and 4 grandchildren and the need for books and reading to the kids when they were young

There was a short interview that came up on the recommended side of the YouTube video I watched called "Stephen King National Book Festival 2016 Facebook PBS Live." It's about 12 minutes long. This is the video where I thought I heard something about a new book with that character. I'm assuming in the above you meant to say I "don't remember?" In the video of the talk I watched, I saw him speak from a prepared script, as King put it, then later on relate a story about changing tires, etc. Then the question section seemed short. I'll have to look at the video posted on King's site. (Actually, I just noticed that the short interview I watched is also posted on King's page, so if anyone wants to look at it, it is there.)

Library of Congress Event was a HUGE SUCCESS. I only have one question, When is the next event?

MS. MOD. Thanks for taking care of all of us answering our questions above! You are a great advocate for the King fans on this site.

I was able to watch a full replay on YOU tube. Lots of Great Information! Talisman 3 might be started in February, Sleeping Beauties collaboration with Owen King is a long big, coming out next year.

LOC know how to run an event, ticketing went very smoothly, NO ID check, No lines (except to get into convention hall). A few small complaints from people who don't read their emails. Many people did not even know they could buy End of Watch if they got an email. I told 3 people sitting around me to check emails and lo and behold they were all excited to be selected to get a book!

I am sure All the books were sold by 2:30 or 3, but "Many" went unclaimed from ticket holders and the books went on "sale" to festival attendees at 2 as stated in our email.

NO COMPLAINTS HERE about book distribution. I was able to check off 2 people on my Christmas List.

Interesting side note, the books I got were 7th editions. End of Watch MUST be doing great in sales!!!!!

I still LOVE finders keepers, Mercedes and then EOW in that order.

There are two more in November but I'm not able to give out more information until the local venues are ready to do so.

I was able to attend the event with my daughter, It was pretty much exactly like everyone else above described. No Id's checked for anything, even the purchase of the signed book. Its a shame because so many more King fans could of attended AND got a signed book no problem if only they would of known. There were empty seats during the speaking event. And After 2pm, there in my estimate was at least 100 or more signed books put out on the open floor for anyone to purchase. The speaking event was basically the same topics and stories that was told during the EOW tour. I think the most important bit of info was Stephen's conformation that if things go as planned he will be working on the third Jack Sawyer book with Peter starting February. Of course the questions ask were not that interesting and the same old stuff that always gets ask "What scares you" but what do you expect? I doubt that perfect question from a fan is going to pull that super secret info out of him that he wasn't already willing to share. Although with that said, the Feb. start time for the new Jack Sawyer book was a result of a fan ask question. So who knows.

Can we get a general Location? Like east coast, west coast? North or south? Or even a state perhaps? Cant hurt to ask.
East coast but both at universities so preference will be given to the student/faculty population so general public tickets will be more difficult (although not impossible) to obtain. We should be announcing one of these by the end of this week from what I've been told but that could change if final details about ticketing have not been resolved.
