The gunslinger books are : CowBoys and robots and
wizards and dragons.
Like Clint Eastwoodf meets CP3O,
like Marshal Dillon meets Gandoff the Gray.
But its much more then that. It is a real blending of westerns and
science fiction and Harry Potter type fantasy;; There are some love stories.
--this would include Roland and his "son" Jake...
but this is all hard to explain.
When I first saw the display for gunsling, in the store, 1982 , I thought It
was something I woulndt like at all. I didnt pick it up until 88`89.
Then I fell in love with it. In the ENTIRE history of Books there are
damn few stories like it.
Our lit" today is kept clean, everything in its place. Like a prissy child
with a plate of food--- we are careful never to let our mashed potatoes
touch out meat or veggies. In the gunslinger ...all the food is thrown
together in a bowl....and we have stew.
Maybe others will add to this thread and explain, BETTER THEN I, what
the gunslinger stories are like !
Jake and Eddie and Susanna tell Roland of
our world "prissiness" and he actualy replies : "does no one like stew?"
