Hey,

So I just got into the Dark Tower series this year.

At my local Chapters and on Amazon.ca, (I'm Canadian, you see) I picked up this version of the Gunslinger.

When I started looking for the books (1-4) they all had release dates of this year.

But I've only been able to find the first four in this particular set of artwork/editions.

I tried asking the workers at the store, but of course they had no idea.

Just wondering if anyone knows when/if the last three will be out, or if this isn't a reprinting and the one's that are out for 4-7 are the only editions in the revised set and I won't find them in the same editions as the 1-4 I've purchased.

Just don't want to end up with some revised and some not.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the site. :)

All of the the series 1-6 have revised editions, the Dark Tower (VII) is not a revised edition as it was released in 2004. (as a first edition) Same with The Wind Through the Keyhole, except the release date for this one was 2012.

Thanks Flakenoir; I didn't know that. I do have the entire series, but, 'Drawing of the Three' and 'Wizard and Glass' are soft covers. I've still not found
them in hardcover. I just keep looking hoping they will show up at a used book store. Lots of used book stores where I live and haven't been to get to all of
them; yet.

Welcome to the board, Ben :) and thanks for your question. I'm getting ready to read the Dark Tower series and I knew Gunslinger had been revised but I didn't know others had also been revised. I bought my copies as they were published so I guess now I'll have to find revised copies.

Same question here- I bought and read as published/ also have the revised Gunslinger but was not aware the others have been revised. Is there more information about the revisions available??

Hopefully I have the right information with this, I was going from the publication dates in the StephenKing.com Library.
(I am just leaving for work, but will revisit this later in the day)

So, just to be clear, these versions:

5
6
7

Are these the revised editions then? And, to that end, the only revised editions?

Or, am I correct in saying, only the first four book required revision?
I can't tell you just by looking at those covers sorry--as I am not personally familiar with ones in your links.
Ms Mod who would probably know for sure, is away until the 13th. In the mean time I will ask kingricefan, jchanic and Bev Vincent to perhaps take a look. They may have more information for you.

:icon_eek: I MUST crawl out from under my rock more often!! Did I know about this! Although it seems I must have, I can't seem to remember anything about it...maybe my brain is shrinking? Hmmm...
Time to go book shopping!
Don't go shopping yet girl! I may have been completely wrong in my estimation of 'revised'. (I got my information from our (online) Library, was going from the publication dates.)

More information pending..... :a11:

Hi there and welcome to the SKMB - I cannot help you with your question - my copies are just from thrift shops (like Value Village) so I am pretty sure they are the old ones. I did splurge and get The Wind Through the Keyhole back in 2012 - great book!

Before Wolves of the Calla came out, Viking re-issued the first four books in a single style. Only The Gunslinger was revised; however, all four books had the new "On Being 19" essay at the front, so they are technically new editions. The text of DT2-4 was not revised, though. DT5-7 were released by a different publisher (Scribner), therefore the books look different. In North America, it is not possible to get a consistent-looking set of DT1-7 trade editions. Only the limited editions came from a single publisher (Grant).

Thank you, Bev for clearing up the "revised" issue. Was beginning to think I'd been in a time warp and missed something important!
