I've really liked the recent paperback covers. For some reason, though, most of the recent new hardcover books have been disappointing to me. I'm guessing the big marketing folks run the show with the new books and they go more for covers that sell books than artistic merit. More slick software design crowd tested for the masses than human generated products. I wonder how much input King provides into the cover design? I'm sure he probably gets a chance to review it, but he strikes me as largely hands off except for the content.

He gets final approval but rarely does he specify that he wants a particular design for the cover. If he doesn't like a direction they're going in with the proofs, he will give them feedback.
