I just finished book 7 and I'm hooked on the DT world. Are there any plans for more stories set in the world. Not just related but actually set in it, like TWTTK or Little Sisters of Eluria.
Also, has there been any mention of stories taking place after book VII? Most of the questions I've seen posed about the ending focus on Roland but I think the ending effects a lot more. For one, we are first given a happy style ending for Eddie, Susannah and Jake but if Roland is transported back, does that mean that ending is not going to happen? Did that happy ending happen before he made it to the top of the tower and once he got sent was everything reset?
Or does it only reset Roland's world? It seems like that wouldn't work because we have encountered people from other worlds in his world, such as Callahan. Therefore, if Callahan's death wasn't reset, he couldn't factor into the next iteration. Same with the rest of ka-tet. Granted, their new happy ending could simply be another world, possibly created by the actions in the DT. The ending implies that each iteration is roughly the same and we are given hope because Roland picks up the horn. Obviously, that action alone could change things so that Eddie, Susanna and Jake are not part of the next story.
If everything else, except the ending of this new iteration, were to stay the same, I think it would be cool to flash forward to the new ending and have brief synopsis. Since Stephen King is part of the story, he could give a brief overview, similar to the back cover of a book and then the story could resume from there, assuming of course that there is a story to tell. I think the world has such rich potential that there is a lot more to explore.
There were so many mentions of the backstory of Roland's world that I want to know more and would love to see what happens to the world after the tower is saved. Does Roland rebuild Gilead and start training new gunslingers? Who knows. Tehre are so many options.
