And it looks like Simon & Schuster has started publishing new trade paperback versions using the same covers as the mass-market books.

You are exactly right. I just clicked on every new cover on the S&S site and starting last month and going through December 2018 are the schedules for re-releasing the covers they already did (as well as the ones they hadn't yet) in the Gallery Books Trade size versions. Exactly like they released the MMP versions before.

I guess the title of my discussion can now be changed from New Mass Market cover reprints...derailed?
to New Mass Market cover reprints...derailed!

Wow... I agree. Disappointing. For a book about the power of art, that cover is lacking.

Truly.

Also, so far - From A Buick 8 and Roadwork have been re-released in the trade format with these new covers. The Eyes Of The Dragon and Dreamcatcher release this month.

Here is the full schedule from Amazon by release date. Good to see The Talisman, Black House and Blaze on the list for these new covers, even if they are in trade.

Amazon.com: stephen king gallery books paperback - Paperback: Books

Looks like the collections are being re-released in trade under the Scribner name with the totally different covers that trickled out last year now as well.

Amazon.com: stephen king scribner books paperback - Paperback: Books

I really hope they also get released with the Gallery covers down the road.

Hoping for a Bag of Bones and Under the Dome release. I loved those covers.

Me too! I'm willing to bet they are going to be released in trade, along with the others that the covers had already been designed for. They just abandoned the MMP format

It appears Hearts In Atlantis with the new cover was released in November last year in the Pocket MMP on Amazon UK, and I missed it. Unless it was a mistake listing, I'm kicking myself over it.

Looking at S&S's site it looks like, of the books that weren't released on MMP with the new covers, only From a Buick 8 and Eyes of the Dragon are using the the cover art that was planed for the MMPs. To be fair I am only looking at the ones I am interested in. Hearts, Bag of Bones and Everything's Eventual are using blown of versions of the previous MMP cover art as opposed to the new art.

This bugs me (In fact I actually started a thread myself...https://stephenking.com/xf/index.php?threads/problems-with-king-and-scribner.15812/#post-822008). They were less then 10 books from finishing the run when they cut this off and now I have 7 books on my shelf that don't match the others (not counting the 5 SK anchor books). I'm holding out hope that they reconsider but I'm thinking there is little chance.

I have a feeling that when the new Gallery trade versions of Hearts and Bag Of Bones do come up in line for release, they will have the covers that were intended for the MMP releases that got cancelled. The two newest books that are on the trade release list (Duma Key and Blaze) since the MMP releases got cancelled at The Green Mile were both created with the new cover schemes we are interested in. I think every stand alone novel by King alone, up to Under The Dome (and possibly 11/22/63) will follow suit.

Looks like only short story collections are being released with the Scribner MMP covers in trade, and any collaborations between Steve and another author (Talisman/Black House, Sleeping Beauties) and his most recent books are being released with new cover art or the same art it was originally released with.

But I hold out hope Everything's Eventual might get released with the Pocket MMP cover in trade, since a cover was already designed.
