If ANY movie warrants a trilogy, this one does. But if not, I'd love to see it done as a miniseries ala Mr Mercedes.
Personally, I loved the TV miniseries, and thought the casting was perfect...except for Fran. Molly Ringwald? REALLY? Ick.
Otherwise, casting was dead on. Rob Lowe as Nick? The only person who could have done it better was, in my opinion, Robby Benson, but he was too old.
That's who I always saw as Nick. A better choice for Fran would have been Kirsten Dunst, but I don't think she did TV at the time. And MAYBE Lara San Giacomo wasn't the best choice for Nadine. Maybe. But everyone else? Oh, yeah....

Has anyone found any more updates about this project? The only thing I could find was the announcement that it might be turned into a miniseries from back in April. There are so many SK projects in the air right now. It's really exciting, but hard to keep track of everything.

I agree with what everyone's said since this thread started; a feature film is not enough. The novel is so filmic, it would be perfect to adapt into a miniseries.

MikiM, I hadn't thought of Kirsten Dunst, but she actually would have fit for Frannie. There are so many younger actors now that I can't quite keep up. If the project ever gets off the ground it will be interesting to see the cast.

Something tells me poor Trash's story is going to be omitted again. I wouldn't doubt that happy crappy.

From what I'm hearing about some of the casting choices, a lot of things are going to be omitted. And I am not pleased about that happy crappy.

It’s not possible. There’s too much, and it shouldn’t be either rushed or — Heaven forbid! — abridged. They might as well title it The Skip.

Can't see it working. I'm not a big fan of the TV movie (horrible casting, for the most part), but at least it gave space to flesh out multiple storylines.
I liked parts of the TV series. I wish the Tube Throat a/k/a Captain Tripps part were more gory, Kareem Abdul Jabbar weren’t so prominent, there were dead bodies piled all over the place — Don’t y’all think there should’ve been? The Don’t fear the reaper montage is still epic, to this day. I binged it last week.

I kinda disagree. IMO it’s the perfect time
I agree. HBO would be great. For Dark Tower too. The only thing is that HBO might want a lot of nudity in it. I haven't read Game of Thrones, but was there a lot of nudity there? Hard to imagine...

I'm not against nudity, but it shouldn't be forced into something that doesn't have it. That's how I felt when Masters of Horror came out (although that was Showtime, not HBO): there was nudity in nearly every episode, whether it was needed or not. It seemed embarrassing to have all these classic horrordirectors directing an episode and then being asked: 'Oh, and put in some nude scenes, please.' Some of them have nudity in their own films too, but with others it felt it was forced upon their episode.
i don’t see the need for nudity, except maybe for dead bodies getting their breasts and penises gnawed away at by squirrels, ferrets, housecats and, oh yeah, vultures!
