Y'all are gonna be amazed, but I actually went out for New Year's Eve. A friend of mine texted me and told me to get my old dead rear end off the sofa and live a little and come out with her and her fella. I felt like the proverbial third wheel, but I went. It wasn't horrible.

It's nice to know that Dio isn't the only party animal around here. ;-D

Just sat and talked with Tamara during the final hour.
We laughed at Steve Harvey, he was hilarious. We talked a lot about what a strange year it has been and how things are certainly a lot different than they were last New Year's Eve for both of us. We talked about our future, our boys, our differing tastes in music, we argued about whether the Patriots or Steelers will win the Superbowl, but all of the conversation had the undertone of feeling very fortunate we have each other and have someone to tease, to argue with, and just to talk to. I got a very, very nice New Year's Eve kiss, one I won't soon forget and although it was wonderful, it was also a bit surreal. On New Year's Eve it's difficult to not think of the past and ponder how you arrived at where you're at and everything that has changed. I was doing quite a bit of that and hoping the cost has been worth it. I think it has been, it's such a new normal now and so much different than how I planned things to be, ya' know?.....Not complaining, not at all, it just seems like sometimes it's not quite real yet. Hope everyone had a good and safe New Year.

This is so awesome!! I have a hunch it will free more real come March, but I hope that it always has a bit of surrealness (is that a word?) to it. You deserve it!

So, less than 3 months to go! Starting to get excited?? :m_excited:

LOL, I think you're right, it will always feel a bit surreal, I guess that's to be expected. I am starting to get excited about the wedding, or nervous, or a combo. We keep looking at each other and trying not to panic that down to only around 70 days or so left and we still have so much to do. My invitations to my old co-workers at the police department have made the rounds and the texts and phone calls I've started to receive have been......spirited...I guess would be a good word. It's ranged from congratulations to surprised texts that I'm actually heterosexual, all the way to how much a few of them are going to enjoy taking turns with my fiance.....I'm assuming they mean dancing but the way the text was phrased...I'm really not so sure...lol It would seem not much as changed as far as the way they all communicate their congratulations and salutations to my fiance and I. I'm glad she used to work there as well and knows a bunch of those idiots and how they are because if she didn't, well, it might seem a bit offensive...lol

....I'm sure they will act just like the juvenile delinquents that you came to know....the consistency there is admirable.....

TB12 takes down Big Ben! If the Steelers couldn’t pull out the game in December they definitely aren’t getting past NE if they meet again in the AFC final.

Shhhhhh, my fiancee will hear you all the way thru cyberspace sir....lol But yes, I did VERY MUCH ENJOY that game. I had to play the role of "I'll take the high road" after the Pats won because I wasn't quite sure if lasers were or were not going to actually burst from her eye for a few minutes after the game. She was livid about the touchdown overturned at the end of the game but I did explain to her the rule about the receiver having to control the ball all the way thru the catch. After a series of middle finger gestures and invitations for me and the Pats to go do things with each other she calmed down a bit and accepted the loss with the understanding that the next time the teams meet the outcome will be different...lol

Oh, I understand. Steelers had that game. I would not have overturned that TD. Even so, knee on 3rd down and FG to tie was a no brainer. Don’t know why Tomlin decided to channel Pete Carroll but I’ll take it! I was at the sports bar at Busch Stadium in St Louis for that game. People there were not happy with the outcome!

Seriously though, Steelers are the only other legit team in the AFC, they should advance to the finals. Just keep Big Ben away from the ladies.....
