so i guess i'm supposed to make my newbie post? well then. been a SK since middle school, favorites are officially the dark tower, (which i'm just now finishing), i'm 30, love listening to soundtracks (as it happens i'm listening to the dark tower soundtrack right now), and i actually made an account specifically so that i could pose an inquiry to whom it may concern.. i suppose an admin at this point will be able to help with that one.

i'm listening to the dark tower magnum opus (and oh, indeed, it is. i wish i had gotten started much sooner. i'm beyond hooked). i have seen the film and really enjoyed it.

as it happens, while listening to the journal entries post song of sussanah in which SK chronicles the writing of the series, the urge to finally get back into writing stories as a hobby (and yes, attempt to self publish), crashed into me, along with, as Ka would have it, ideas. so this time, i actually began looking for any info stephen king has for aspiring writers (and it is a satisfactory plethora to be sure)

and that is where the inquiry comes in. i am soon going to begin working on a supernatural drama/thriller set involving pagan gods and their mortal followers, taking place in history, modern, and future ages. one of the stories involves Thoth, and the only adequate title i could arrive at for that particular installment is "Word Processor of the gods" which of course is one of stephen king's works and i need to make sure i do not infringe on any copyright matters involved. if any admins (or, Ka will it, mr. king himself) could provide illumination on this issue, i would much appreciate it.

alas, i'm babbling (hmmm.. i do find typing to be a rather pleasant activity..)
thanks for having me. long days and pleasant nights.

Welcome! Have you read Stephen's, On Writing? Very good place to get some great tips.

As far as the copyright stuff, someone will be along shortly to address your concerns, I'm positive. Helpful people here.
actually i was trying to listen to the audiobook on youtube while at work today, as my phone ran out of space for audiobooks and i've used my fast data ( plan on buying it and listening first chance i get) and in fact i spent the carpool home (not my week to drive, we take turns) watching his interviews and reading articles. as we speak i'm writing first draft of book one, as the sentences come to me.

Welcome to the site, saiyris. I guess my question is why would you want to use the same title even if there are no copyright issues?
King's awesome title sprang to my mind first, and i said no. i tried a bunch of titles, and all felt wrong. "scroll of eternity" as recently as tonight, and i'm still considering it, but it doesn't feel correct. *the god's apprentice - word processor of the gods* feels right. i'm still hoping for a different title to feel right.

Titles can't be copyrighted so you (or anyone) can use the same title as long as the material in the book itself is not plagiarizing Stephen's work. You might want to consider changing it out a little, though, as you would probably get some angry feedback from people thinking you were trying to capitalize on Stephen's title and/or dupe people into buying your work because they recognized the title but didn't pay attention to the author name.
