MAYBE I missed it but I went through the threads and didn't see any grisham. Excellent author in my opinion. A time to kill is a classic. It was written like 25 years ago. He recently wrote a sequel to it called sycamore row. Guilty to say haven't read it yet. He's got a lot of great novels, hard to recommend just a few but I also really like The Racketeer. He was a lawyer so he writes mostly legal thrillers.

I have read both. Sycamore Row is as wonderful as the first. My favorite Grisham novel is The Street Lawyer.

It is a good novel. I prefer the Mississippi ones though. Love me some Canton. Did you read The Last Juror? That is about the same place in a time before A Time To Kill. It is a tear jerker.
I haven't read The Last Juror, but will give it and The Rainmaker a try. I loved A Time to Kill and The Firm years ago.

My relation with Grisham started out well, remeber the Firm ans A time to Kill but lost interest because they, i thought seemed to repeat themselves a tad to much and tended to go a little to much on routine. So i stopped reading. But it is possible i just struck a couple of minor books in a row.

I have never read a John Grisham novel, but have seen and liked a few of the movies. I just don't like reading crime drama - or whatever you might call his genre. BUT due to this thread, I did buy Painted House today at the thrift store and am very much looking forward to reading it.

I also scored Book 2 of The Berrybender series by Larry McMurtry. I haven't read the first, but I do love this author, and after reading These is My Words, I'm totally in the mood for some more out west during the 1800s stuff.
