I have just finished reading this book like a week ago and correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a few things missing in this story like who, why, and what happens at the end, it left me up in the air wanting more. Don't get me wrong I loved the whole story its self, the whole idea of making zombies out of the herds of people using these phones ( coming from a NO-FO area I don't own one myself and after reading this I'm kind of glad I don't cause it freaked me out). From reading other threads about this novel, I am a tad bit confused... to my understanding Zombies are dead people reanimated and the phone crazies are just reprogrammed living people. I think I felt there could have been less information about people in passing and more about the why and who made all this happen, but I wouldn't change anything I read because its Kings works and one can never go wrong reading them over and over. I will in the future be reading this one over again to see if I missed something along the way.

Please look passed my punctuation and grammar etc. I'm not a writer only a reader but know what I like and try hard to write my opinion to the best of my abilities to make it easier for you all to understand what I'm getting at.

PS I'm sad as a parent that I didn't get to see what happened after he raised the phone to his sons ears for the second time.

The first time I read this one the ending torqued me off. Even had a nightmare about it...I'm outside pumping gas over at the 76 station, I head inside, and there King is...reading a friggin book of all things...at one of those old study hall desks. I have one of those caught in the headlights moments when he looks up, grins, and I'm thinking crap, me with no book for him to sign. We communicated like phone-crazies...I thought to him, great stories! he thought back at me, thanks! And then! The really frightening thing happened, all these people hunkered down by the Li'l Debbies and the Doritos stand up and begin to file out...phone crazies...every last one of them...and!...King gets up and makes up the caboose, gives me the nod as he passes through the door. I never paid for my gas.

I read on the much-praised previous incarnation of this board...an explanation more or less posted to appease all the torqued-off readers, that the thing at the end is meant to have worked....that all is well and all manner of things are well. I've got some! Ocean-front property! in Arizona!

Cell ended a bit upbruptly for me, too, but I realized that it was over (the next page was blank), so I decided to try to think as sK had been when he ended it there. Then it made more sense to me despite the abruption.

Love the Pic GNTLGNT : ) I'm glad to hear that you all feel like that and I'm sure that if I had read it again I also would have gotten that feeling as well, but rethinking, I think I see how it was meant and I feel a lot better about the ending in this light thank-you.

This is like DT. A lot of people hated the ending, and I absolutely lived it. DT could not have rightly ended any other way.

To me, Cell ended the way it should. Personally, I'm always surprised when an SK novel has an actual ending (they so rarely do).

DT is one I haven't read in years, its on my list to read as soon as I get it on kindle as I cant read the small print of my paper books anymore. I am looking forward to reading it as with all his books, and maybe the leaving me wanting more is why I like hem sooo much : )

I think I know what ran through Uncle Steve's head when he ended this novel.....gawd help me. I think if he had written that the kid heard the pulse and got better will where would he have gone from there. Would they have other adventures. That would have to be the start of another novel about Cell. If the kid showed no improvement when he heard the pulse, will what was the father to do? Would he whack him on the head with a sledgehammer and say" Let's see if that will help. It worked on the Flintstones". Then what?????? The only way Stephen could have put paid to this novel was to leave us hanging. Let our imaginations do the rest.

More than any of King's other books I find myself being drawn back to the ending of Cell and every time my head gets more and more wrecked! Ok, I know King ended it there for reasons only know to him but I know that I'm not alone in needing some sense of closure with this book! We travelled a long road within the pages with all the characters only to be left hanging at the end. To me it feels like a book without an ending, almost like getting to the end of a book and finding the last chapter missing entirely. Don't get me wrong,I love the book....I just need to know how they make out in the end!!!
