...meh.....it's going to be a decent movie to go see, but it's not OUR story.....kinda half expect to see The Avengers show up......
what is 'Avengers'? ...lol [yes, I just looked it up and yes I use to read Marvel comics growing up and yes I know who the Incredible Hulk is...but who the heck are the rest of them, anyhow?]

by lol I normally mean lots of laughs...not the other meaning...
[oops, I meant $20 bucks round trip in previous message...why do I have the feeling I am typing to myself in public? Oh well, whatever...Yar! -yes, I know the 'yar' is not used quite correctly here either...I'll stop now.]

I went looking for these, to price them out. Did you notice in the description it says "sculpted by Gentle Giant Studios"??

Thought that was kind of a cool Ka-incidence! ;-D Unless it really was you? :applause:
....Ha!....I did notice that, and don't I wish???.....they are for the most part-high end collectibles for the adult market.....

while i'm not excited about just how different it will be, i'm also practical when it comes to my movie adaptations. spot on adaptations are extremely rare. the fact that it's finally coming at all gives me hope, considering how much hollywood loves recycling, that we'll get another shot at it in the future in a more proper format (series). and, as king adaptations go, it looks a far sight better than some that have been done. overall, on a scale of one to ten i'm probably somewhere around 6 or 7 in the anticipation dept. definitely seeing it, and looking forward to it, but not expecting to be totally blown away. i'm super tired of reading comments about idris elba's casting though. it pains me to see lovers of the DT display such a lack of imagination. and some of the comments are just extremely rude towards stephen king, as if he has no right to allow creative license of his own works

Here's a new featurette. Not much new footage, but there are some nice bits with the two leads and this other guy with the glasses.

Ads have started showing on tv.

If they didn't say "Stephen King's Dark Tower" I would not have guessed. Nothing...absolutely nothing....reminds me of the book. I am as disappointed in the casting of The Man in Black as I am in the casting of Roland.

I know....I said I was going to stay out of these threads, but this commercial keeps popping into my tv screen. Hopefully when the movie opens it will stop.

I imagine it will stop pretty quickly. They put off commercials until barely two week before opening weekend. Trailer exposure has been minimal, i.e. not before a lot of movies in theaters and relying primarily on internet. To put it mildly the Studio is spending as little as possible promoting the film. That is rarely a good sign. So unless it a surprise hit, the commercials will cease within one week of opening. The lack of faith in the product here is disturbing. No sequels greenlit beforehand. Minimal promotion. Everything is wait and see. That and the fact we were supposed to have seen this film back at the beginning of the year.

I assume shortly after it opens the ads will stop. And I don't begrudge them advertising...it is their right. But, The scene insinuated never happened in the books. Not enticing me at all.

Well that goes without saying. Nothing in any of the trailers ever happened in the books. We hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. I have no doubt it will be "pretty" and there will be lots of superhero fights. Beyond that, nobody should be expecting much.
