Had 10 mins to kill before dinner was ready to be picked up (it's No Cook Friday), stopped by the thrift store, just checking the book shelves - and what do you think I found for a mere $4.99? Uh-huh. Doctor Sleep. I'm getting jammied up and directly into bed to begin reading. Aren't you beyond excited for me? I knew if I held out long enough, it would turn up.

Lucky you! I paid 22 bucks for mine - got it the day it was first available here in Winnipeg - happy reading!

You know, most of the books I get at thrift stores are in much better shape when I get them, than when I get through with them. I ate a pork chop while reading last night - so things are kinda greasy. And then my 10 year old was talking in my face and sneezed right into the page I was reading. It makes me so happy that I don't spend $30 on a book.

When I had a 10 year old I got all my books from the library (or sometimes bought them second hand). He is 28 years old now so I can afford a little splurge now and then. Plus hubby is up North making good money so might as well spend it on something good like a book!

i am jealous, I paid 19 euro for Dr sleep and I have no regrets. read it twice. I am now saving up for a certain book by a certain writer on June 3. it is 28.99. Maybe i am mad to pay it, but a. love stephen king b. love books so it doesnt bother me to pay. I prefer to read the New stephen king for 30 euro then spend the 30 euro on getting sloshed.

Me, too booklover - to me it is money well spent as you have a book that you can read again and perhaps pass on to others when you are gone from this world. Oh my - I am a bit philosophical today :hmm:

I waited until it was freed up at my local library. Gives me an excuse to stop by while running errands and amble around to see what else I've missed.

;)
Can you not order the book in your library online or when it is due out, put in a pre-order. I usually do that, but then again i usually end up buying the book - can't wait 6 weeks. to be honest, i would rather pay 17 euro for a SK book then 25 euro on drink and spend the whole night going to the toilet.

I noticed Dr sleep paperbacks for £3.99 in my local supermarket, it was the same cover as the hardback (black background, green writing, white cat) except for one - white background, green writing, black cat - the white one was so cool I almost bought it again.

You should have bought both!

John
I'm not really one for collectors editions, as long as I have one physical version of the book, I'm happy - I have the hard back (oddly enough, a limited edition with purple details - it was exclusive to where I bought it, and the only ones they had). If I didn't already have it I would choose the most asthetically pleasing, which in this case would be white.
