Just started this one last night - wow is it HUGE (go ahead GNT)! I got mine from Goodwill - always book shop there first folks! For $2.99 - it looks brand new - the spine hasn't been cracked, it doesn't smell funny, and it's got all this lovely artwork in it. Retail was $35! Who gives away something like that? I don't think it was ever even opened. So I made it into the first 25 pages - but I was tired. I'm told there will be tears.

Definitely a good buy! I check the thrift shops often, esp for hardbacks I know I will want to keep. Books are feckin' expensive! As far as the story, I liked it for the most part. There will likely be tears, but the ending ROCKED. I remember sitting stunned for a few seconds, then laughing uproariously and yelling, "You S.O.B.!" There couldn't have been a better ending to the journey!

The Darkside of the Moon (England really)
I got mine online used for about £3, mine is also larger than the rest of the series and has some glossy illustrations and some normal page illustrations too. I wonder if they are the same (illustrations I mean)?
dt7a.jpg dt7b.jpg dt7c.jpg <---- Like we need 3 of him, I'd still be reading when I got to the clearing.

With regards to the 3rd image, I have a question (potential light spoilers so if you are before the final quarter, don't look if you don't want some small plot given away)

That image is at the beginning of my book and is obviously Feemalo, Fumalo, and Fimalo, but Roland says to Suze "Put spectacles and beards on them and they would look exactly like the writer when I first met him" - so why has the illustrator drew them with beards if they didn't have them in the book?

Ooooh aren't you a lucky one, I remember my very first time finishing The Dark Tower. Reread it many times since but there's nothing like that first time when everyone's fate is still undecided and the ending is unsure... Will they find the tower? If they do, who or what resides at the top? Is it Gan? Is it the Crimson King? An even higher being? Is it nothing at all? Will all be good and right, or shall the tower fall and all be destroyed? Take it easy on this journey, for it will never be the same after :)
