In the Rocky Wood book about King's unpublished items, there's a brief mention of Creepshow 2. It implies, at least to my reading, that the stories Old Chief Wood'nhead and The Hitch-Hiker were not based on King's tales and were instead the product of George Romero's imagination. Certainly nothing wrong with that, but I always thought King came up with the stories for these two.

Perhaps Bev Vincent might know about this. I was wondering if King wrote out treatments for these tales, and if so, how long they were. Or, maybe he just wrote out brief premises for the segments. In the previous thread on Creepshow 2, a member very helpfully stated that there were some written treatments/synopses, which is probably correct, but I thought I would pose this query again anyway since I just read about it in the Wood book. Most likely though the info already given is right.

King wrote a treatment for five stories and a wraparound story that was more complex than the one found in the original movie. Romero converted this into a screenplay. The other two stories were adaptations of Cat from Hell and the original story Pinfall. I don't know how long this treatments was.

Pinfall was never a story, but a treatment. Cat from Hell and The Raft were actual stories. But, yup, King did outline Creepshow 2, by longhand, in a handbook/ledger which he provided to Romero. According to Romero, King even put dialogues in these synopses/outlines.

Omigod, it's thoughts like these that keep me up at night.

Just came across some of the new content in this thread.

DanishReader, thanks for this info. Is there an article out there describing this notebook/etc.?

I love "the Hitchhiker" story....its funny and amazing that the hiker keeps appearing to the lady driver...."thanks for the ride lady!".....and its nice to see Stephen King get a cameo appearance....
and I see that in the first story "Old Chief Wooden Head" the character "Fats Stuff" who is helping rob the store, is the son of the actor Hal Holbrook in the first creepshow movie The Crate

My son and I watched "Creepshow" a couple of weeks ago. He had never seen it. We were both cracking up at Mr. King's portrayal of Jordy Verrill. That's still hilarious no matter how many times I watch it.
I thought he was fantastic as Jordy Verrill - "meteor s***!" Brilliant! ;-D
