I just finished The Outsider which is the only book I’ve ever read by Stephen King other than being almost done with the IT audiobook. The Outsider was awesome. I loved the dilemma of evidence showing Terry Maitland at two places at once. It really had me guessing. Once the supernatural elements came in, I really fell in love with the characters. I was very shocked when Terry died. I really thought he’d be a huge part of the story. It was at that moment I realized this is Ralph’s story. I am so excited to continue reading his books. Also, I want to say I was so sad when Howie and Alec died. Goes to show SK writes great characters. But if I’m being brutality honest, one thing I really hoped for, was the Outsider to pose a bigger threat to the group. I had hoped some more horror elements picked off the characters instead of them dying from what was essentially a shootout. It’s not a big complaint. Just feels like a missed opportunity for the main villain to not horrify us towards the end. The only kills he ever did was told in the aftermath. No biggie.
