Just a comment here, but I find it interesting that everyone is so excited to see the cover reveals, yet no one mentions the artist. I would think that would go hand-in-hand.

Behind every great Stephen King book is a talented artist.
And to go with this question, do the artists get to read the book for inspiration for the covers or just given a rough idea of the story?

I prefer the US version of this one. But, one a train car and one a lake with big, scary building....2 very different visions/interpretations.

absolutely. And both give a hint at the story to come.

I assume they get to read the book itself, not just going by a description but don't know for sure.

This is what I found re Scribner's Art Dept.
Jaya Miceli, Scribner's Art Director, joined the imprint in July 2014. A graduate of Parsons School of Design, with a BFA in Illustration. Jaya's short-lived illustration career earned her published pieces in The New Yorker Magazine. Her appreciation of art, love of books and illustrative talents found their true home in book publishing. She learned jacket design and typography on the job during her 14 years at Penguin, where she began as a junior designer. Jaya has designed jackets for a diverse group of authors including Lev Grossman, Terry McMillan, T.C. Boyle, Geraldine Brooks, Jasper Fforde, David Lodge, Jonathan Tropper, Dara Horn, Brady Udall, as well as, Pulitzer Prize winning, Manning Marable's book Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention. She is thrilled to further her book design ventures with the extraordinary literary bounty at Scribner books.

I honestly can't remember--way too many covers over the years and it wasn't a high priority for me at the time it happened to think I needed to remember. :wink2: If it comes to me, I'll post it, though.
Thanks. Hopefully one will come to you before June 2020. We'll never be able to get these kind of things answered again, afterwards. ;):)

Why do they even have different covers for UK and US editions? Is it marketing related (i.e. for some reason they believe the respective covers will sell better in those countries?)?
It probably has something to do with that as well as wanting to put their own stamp on the books they produce. That happens with other non-US editions as well.

The primary publishers (Scribner and Hodder) usually run proofs by him for his approval. More often than not, he goes with what they suggest but there have been times when he's asked them to do something different.
Some of the British book covers I've seen are just amazing Ms. Mod. I wonder what drives book artwork in different countries? Are there cultural considerations to the book art or other factors? I mean, his book covers here in the US are great also, but some of the British ones I've seen are just different in their concept.

Not likely although it's still early. I haven't even heard any whispers about a US tour, though.

king does not have to tour, people will buy it regardless. I would love to see him do good morning america. he must be tired of these tours. he must get tired out of them. they seem exhausting. i would love to see him like co host the view or go on Rachel ray, and like cook his lunchtime slop or something. that would be awesome.
