I get the feeling that some of the events in his book "Bag of Bones" were a bit autobiographical (the part about having novels stockpiled)Yeah, but some fear his extreme level of productivity might be taking a toll on his psyche. I hear it’s called the Overlook Syndrome.
I think so. It's in keeping with his habits during his college years. He's often referred to "trunk novels" and visited the idea of stockpiling novels in Lisey's Story and The Dark Half, too.I get the feeling that some of the events in his book "Bag of Bones" were a bit autobiographical (the part about having novels stockpiled)
Definitely appears to be the same style if not the same artist. I love the style and the cover of Elevation especially. For some reason I see the US version of The Institute as being aesthetically pretty yet less thought-provoking than the UK version. How exciting! I've been under a rock for the past two months, so this is awesome news to surface for. I'm also really enjoying this conversation about cover art. It's an interesting process I've not thought about enough as a reader.
The UK version reminds me of the cover for Elevation (similar color scheme). Is it just me, or has King's name taken on a slightly starry glow since the publication of The Outsider that seems to get more starry with each novel.
If they do for others, I'm not aware of it, but I know they don't for him. If anything it costs him money as what they offer is hotel and first class airfare, neither of which he takes them up on--or at least not their particular accommodations. What it can translate to are increased book sales because of the buzz it creates when he does tours. Honestly, I don't think sweetening the financial pot would mean enough to him, though, to give up his time and going through all the stress of a book tour.
Yes, he's compensated through his book contract for his time but they would pay for travel expenses up to a certain amount.its not like he needs to do any more tours. dude has done how many tours and he is tired. and i am surprized king publishers whould not pay him for his time,
or is that because they already paid him for a book contract? hmm interesting..
He did make a stopover at Shannon Airport on his way back from the Europe tour, but I don't think that counts. He has done two publicity trips to the UK but they scheduled the appearances close to London.I can't remember SK ever venturing over to Ireland for any promotional appearances, I'm pretty sure I'd remember seeing him on RTE if he did. Ms. Mod if you don't mind me asking, to your recollection did he ever make it over here to promote any of his novels?
Thanks for the reply, I think it was at the Royal Festival Hall with Muriel Gray that he described himself as "I'm Irish and we have no a$$ to speak of" that got me wondering had he made it over here. You're right...it doesn't countHe did make a stopover at Shannon Airport on his way back from the Europe tour, but I don't think that counts. I honestly don't know the answer to that. I don't recall his being asked to do a multi-city tour in Canada but it's possible that did happen and he turned it down for whatever reason.hmm Ms Mod do you know why they have him centered to a major area when he is international? I have always wondered why he has not done a bit of a canadain tour outside of tronto? I mean it whould not be hard to jump the border into like bigger spots even like Ottawa or like even Vancouver? It whould not be hard for chapters\indegio to sponser it?

This is from that weird show (cable series) called Willard (It was an Australian actor - quite funny!)Yeah, but some fear his extreme level of productivity might be taking a toll on his psyche. I hear it’s called the Overlook Syndrome.
