Ha, I just finally got a new book case and did this as well. For me, paperbacks in chronological order on top shelf, hardbacks in chronological order with exceptions for DT series and companion books like the soon-to-be trilogy. Of course, most of your collections put mine to shame! First thing I said to hubby when I got them all in there... "Now I have room for more books!" =D

For me, the year they were released onward. Dark Tower & Bachman books are mixed in with the regular lot in order of year released. I have three bookcases for my SK and Dean Koontz hardcovers and separate wall-mounted shelves in another room for the paperbacks of both fellows. I'm OCD, man, to the point where my softcovers cannot have dog-ears or creases in the spines, and my hardcovers must have near-pristine dust jackets, and none of them can EVER be the main-reading copy. I have four different versions of Fire Starter, yet I'll go buy a ratty copy just for reading and smelling and give it away when I'm done. I know, I know, I have issues...

I think most book lovers have "issues"! I tend to only buy books secondhand, so I have a variety. I did realize I have 3 copies of the first DT book- one is the original version, one is a newer copy and one is the taller paperback with illustrations. I've also started collecting some oddballs- like the Running Man written in French. :) Something to keep "needing" books despite owning most of them already...

I like nosing at other people's collections, some nice ones here.

Mine has a multitude of different orders involved. All hardbacks on the bottom shelf, 1st order is height, then width except for Mr Mercedes and finders keepers. My paperbacks are also in height order 1st, then publisher style, then if there are multiple books of the same style, alphabetical order. I'm currently reading dreamcatcher, when I've finished it will slot in before everything's eventual as it's the same style and begins with "D". I'm starting to see how weird I appear.

I badly need space, I don't like lying books on top of standing books. My books on the middle shelf are so tightly packed that they all move when I pull one. I might see if the dark towers fit in my small unit and move my Clarkson books elsewhere.

DT books together (including 2 Gunslingers: an original and the rewrite), then the novels in chronological order, with the exception of the two versions of The Stand--they are together. Then Bachman, in chronological order. Then short story/novella collections, also chronological. Then screenplays, non-fiction, and essays. Then Joe Hill, chronological. Then Owen King (a nice, signed We're All in This Together, since I KILLED my first copy through multiple readings and he was kind enough to send me another. Missing Double Feature, though. :( ) Then my couple of Tabitha King books (The Trap and Candles Burning are my favorites. I don't own any others) I might have a PB or two aside from the TPBs of the first 4 DTs and Cycle of the Werewolf floating around, but the only one I can think of is a The Stand, kept for sentimental reasons.

I've got shelves inside my closet, on the sides, and have my Hard Covers on one side, sorted by release date. On the other side of the closet I have my paperbacks sorted alphabetically, with 11/22/63, Under The Dome and Duma Key seperate because of their size. I need a real bookshelf, so that I can properly display my collection, both to all of you, and to myself.

I decided to change things a bit, now I have no more books lying on top of each other, and I have space for bazaar of bad dreams and end of watch. I flipped the order of my bottom shelf just so I could have wind through the Keyhole just beside the dark towers which now have their own space. Here's my updated book case complete with wile.e coyote and kryten book ends.
