Ok so the message here may not just be SK's stance on the shooter's ID. The whole point here may be that if this assassination did not take place, history could have taken a completely different turn, perhaps for the worst.
Is it wrong to assume that his position seems to be one of the acceptance of history, no matter what the facts may have been. The president was assassinated and it should just be accepted, as Jake did in the end after realizing what he had done by stopping the assassin, in this simple theory it happened to be a lone Wolf Lee Harvey Oswald. But his message is clear, history brought us to where we are, Harry and Sadie's lives needed to remain undisturbed for them to carry out fulfilling lives, and JFK had to be assassinated for this to be the country we are today. We may be in an entirely different position today had that not happened, hence the butterfly effect rabbithole. The JFK assassination is unquestionably in the top 5 most tragic events this country has experienced and an attack on our democracy, but it brought the country together, and paved the path for the present day. Great mini series! Kudos to JJ Abrams and Stephen King another great story. Wish I had read the book but the miniseries definitely did not disappoint.

Welcome. 11/22/63 is my second favorite SK. I read it three times before the mini series turned up. I don't know how the world would have changed or if I really believe in the lone wolf theory. I do believe that destiny struggles to put things the way it was meant to be. Jake and Sadie were never meant to be together. Much as it broke my heart. We recently re watched the mini series and I still think it was very well done and true in tone to the mood of the book. For crying out loud do yourself a huge favour and read the book.

If nobody has read this book yet do yourselves a huge favour and READ IT. It's an awesome read and the tv mini series did not do this book the justice it deserved.

My opinion on the JFK assassination, though I wasn't born then, I've seen lots of films & reports of the tragedy and firmly believe that Oswald was a patsy and the true perpetrators will never be bought to justice.

Oswald's rifle was left at the scene, bullet casings from his rifle were found by the window from which witnesses saw a rifle, his prints are on the boxes by that window, he fled the scene, shot a police officer, resisted arrest, lied about owning the rifle etc. The evidence of his guilt is overwhelming. There is a lot of misinformation about the case just as there is in UFO and ghost hunter shows. It's less fun than an outlandish conspiracy narrative, but Oswald did it all by his lonesome.

I'm sorry but I disagree. One reason for this is there would've been no reason for him to be silenced by Jack Ruby if he'd done it all on his own. Also, one bullet definitely hits JFK from an angle impossible for Oswald to have fired from.

We all have our reasons for what to believe and mine is different to yours but the sad thing is that nobody will ever know the truth!

Everyone is entitled to an opinion but not all opinions are equal when they are contrary to the facts and evidence. There is no doubt based upon the evidence that Oswald assassinated JFK. After more than 50 years, there is no credible evidence of his involvement with anyone else. There has been a lot of misinformation about the case. The basic evidence, however, is rock solid and straightforward. Read Bugliosi's "Four Days in November." A JFK conspiracy industry was created in the same way that we have all these reality ghost shows. It's more fun than the truth. The truth is that are no ghosts, UFOs or Bigfoot. If you had a TV show in which the ghost hunters never found a ghost, it would be incredibly boring. There was no grassy knoll shooter. Just one pathetic guy with a rifle.

I watched a forensics doco about the assassination, think it was called Cold Case JFK on netflix, and how the gun and type of bullet used very much explains the plausibility of Oswald being the lone shooter. I now believe he was the lone shooter, but still believe more people were involved with the planning and the clean-up...hence, Ruby.

Fact: One bullet was removed and swapped from JFK pre autopsy (bullet not from Oswalds rifle)
Fact: The secret service wouldn't allow the autopsy to take place where it should've and by the doctor who could've.
Fact: Many professional shooters have attempted to replicate three shots from the same rifle as Oswald reportedly used and none could get off those three shots in the allotted time. (IMO Definately another shooter which was as good as confirmed by an eye witness who was there that day but wasn't called to give this evidence for the Warren report.

There are many more facts I could mention to justify my opinion but I'm sure nobody is for turning!!

I admit I'm not an expert on this. So take my thoughts with a grain of salt.

To me there are a couple of things that make me suspicious of the lone wolf theory.

First, Ruby. There's no reason to think Jack Ruby was willing to go to prison just because he liked JFK. Ruby shot Oswald at the police station, and did it at that point so he could keep him from talking.

Second, the reaction to the shot. JFK is riding along, and boom...the back of his head is blown out, and his head flies BACK. I've done enough shooting in the military and for fun to know that that doesn't happen if you get shot from behind. That was a face-shot. Small entry, big exit.

I don't know. I do think it's extremely suspicious that Ruby shot Oswald, though. He might have been the only shooter; dunno. But I really don't believe he was all on his own, planned it on his own, and no one else was involved or knew.

As to the original question i think the US would have been different but not drastically so.
As to the question of the shooter.... I think there was more to it than just one lone wolf. But i'm not putting any theory down. And i think that to argue that one theory is dumber than the other and my choice is of course right would be arrogant.

Welcome. 11/22/63 is one of my favorites, book and film. The mini series was a bit different, but only to make it better for TV. I truly believe things have to happen the way it's supposed to. While I'm not a great fan read a book of Dean Koontz's called Lightening. The main theme is Destiny struggles.
