For my first novel (The Internet President: None of the Above), I tried to make the author photo look similar to my cover. The image has the feel of a heavy metal album poster and gets a lot of strong reactions. What's your impression?

It took me four years to write the first book. Back in 2014, I was worried that some subplots were too ridiculous, like a presidential candidate with their own reality TV show. Then Trump ran for president and the book seemed more plausible by the day. There were so many similarities between plot points already in the book and what was going on in 2016, that I have a "Fact Versus Fiction" section after the end.

The Internet President: None of the Above won the Cross Genre category in the American Fiction Awards. It truly blends a dozen genres, so it's a bit unusual. It was a real risk writing a novel that crosses so many genre boundaries, but readers seem to enjoy it.

The idea for this series was to start in a world like our own, then evolve into the realm of science fiction, from just a few sci-fi touches in the first book to full-blown sci-fi in the third book. It will be really interesting to see how people react to a series that shifts genres like that.

I have an audiobook version coming out soon with narrators Gabrielle de Cuir and Stefan Rudnicki. They were really wonderful to work with. They made me laugh and cry in all the right places. After listening to the masters for the first time, I found out Stefan Rudnicki has actually won 2 Grammy awards, a Hugo award, and many audio awards. I feel very thankful he wanted to record the audiobook himself.

While writing my novel, I collected images that matched topics and ideas from my novel on Pinterest. That was a lot of fun, and something I expect to do, going forward.
I recently retired from my a career in software to focus on my writing. So I'll be able to write the next book a lot quicker.

The author picture made me smile. The grin on your face seems more goofy then evil leaning, but it somehow works. Good luck in your writing career! All the best, mal
I am goofy. People mostly laugh, but I still do get creepy five percent of the time. For example, a woman at the bank yesterday and my wife. That's in spite of the fact my wife took the source pictures I gave to the artist.
