I named her Little One after I brought her home from the feline adoption center. I was told that she was around 6 months old. She was just a wee thing. She didn't get much bigger as she matured so it was the purrrrrrfect name for her.

my thoughts are with you both, heartbreaking to lose our babes -- we never have enough time with them

This is an older picture of my sweet Little One. I've had her for over 17 years. This is the longest I have ever been owned by a cat. Tomorrow I have to take her to the vet to be put down. This is the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life. She's been a wonderful cat and best friend for all of these years. I don't know what I am going to do after tomorrow when I come home and she won't be there to greet me at the door. She has become nothing but skin and bones in the last few months. She walks into the middle of rooms, stops and howls. She drinks water like crazy and eats little. The vet and I have tried numerous things (special diet and vitamins, etc.) but she is just too old now. I cannot handle looking into her eyes anymore and seeing the misery that she is. I know it is my duty to help her along and not have her be in misery any longer. It hurts so much.
I will be thinking of you and sending big hugs and prayers your way. :love_heart:

Oh, Dan, I'm so sorry. You'll be in my thoughts. I know how incredibly difficult this is but you're doing the most loving thing you can for Little One. She's been blessed to have you in her life, too.

Thank you, Marsha. I don't have to take her in until 2:30 so we will have a little more time together today. She actually got up on my bed early this morning, which she used to sleep with me every night for years but stopped about a year ago, so that warmed my heart and got the tears flowing.

It's merciful and kind. You know when it's time. It's hard but you know. Peace be with you during this.

I’m very sorry for that kingricefan, last year I lost my favorite cat to an unexpected liver infection, the vet thought she would live until the morning of her death. It was very hard for me, I hope your cats at peace.

Thank you. It's hard to lose our fur babies, isn't it? I take comfort knowing that she is in a better place and pain free.
