Hi everyone!!
I just read that Stephen King said this in an interview with Vulture:
"There's talk about doing The Stand as an extended TV series, possibly for Showtime or CBS All Access, and there's been some interest in developing Salem's Lot as a feature. Probably because people are saying, "Well, we took an old miniseries called It and turned it into a phenomenon, so maybe we can do it with something else." Nothing succeeds like excess!"

I will be the first in line for tickets if a movie version of 'Salem's Lot' is made to the same caliber as 'It' was!! How awesome of news is this!!!

Haven't heard anything official on these, I'm sure if there was news it would be published on the main website once something came to hand.

With the modern CGI, both will be unreal, you could make Salem's Lot set more in a bigger town and the vampire more contemporary. You can't have every person turning into a vampire if they get bitten because vampirism doesn't work that way, so it has to be something different.

I really hope not. They did change the era that the kids first encounter the evil in the movie 'It' but it didn't really seem to negatively affect anything. When the book came out, the adults would have been kids in the 50's. Today, the adults were kids in the 80's so they just adjusted it 20 years up. They can always write it set back in the same era that the book takes place. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that if it gets made, it's made well. As far as vampirism, people have so many different takes on how they're made, so to speak. Anne Rice's view is drastically different that something like the Twilight series or True Blood, where you have to be bitten and then literally buried underground in order to change. I think I literally laughed out loud in the movie theatre when I saw Edward's gleaming like diamonds skin in the Twilight books. Anne Rice's take on it is so detailed and her focus in her books and more romanticized and "adult" like. SK didn't focus so much on the process of becoming one as much as what happens to the town and the people there. If this film adaptation pans out, let's just hope the screenwriter is good enough to accurately portray the book.

I don't know why they would do Salem's Lot again. Like Carrie, the original is so classic, it seems you can't improve much on it. It, despite being very much loved (especially for Tim Curry), was never truly a classic in that same vein, as most loved the first half, but not the second.
