I think that the director did a great job on a tight budget. The acting is gritty and real, the photography is lush and deep, and the whole movie has a nice continuity to it. This is a hard book to film, and I think the panning, fast-paced shots of Dee Wallace and...Tad (know the boy's face, can't remember his name..., did a great job)...are so well done. Would loved to have had the scenes of Brett and Charity visiting her sister included, their is so much back story here, but it is still a great film. Didn't need CGI, over indulged special affects, which are the bane of movies today!!

Maybe the book ending would have been just too hard, too sad for a film, even though that is real life, sometimes.
I for one, dare I say it, would have liked for Tad to survive in the book.
Love the way that story reads, it's prose is just so real and gritty.

I've found myself thinking about this several times in the last couple of days, and it's dawned on me that maybe Cujo is one of my favorites. I use phrases from it often ("He was a good dog," "Nothing wrong here," etc.) Mr. Flip is just part of my brain, and I think about the Monster Words often. I even dwell on poor old Cujo himself more often than I'd thought.

I don't think I'll ever be strong enough to read it again, but yeah...I guess it is one of my favorites :)

I know. I kept thinking of what I would do in the same situation, if I would have run for the Camber's house sooner?, if I would have tried to find a weapon within the car...course, hindsight always gives great perspective. I love the character of Charity also, think she has great depth. i wanted to ask, why on earth did she marry Joe in the first place? Why do people get themselves into the situation that they do. But that is life...and maybe Joe, as a young man, had been different and promising. Such a good book, an absolute gritty classic. Go to your local bookshop today, there is nothing even half as good!! Not that I can talk, but King just has such a unique gift...when I read his books, I feel like I am there. Wish I could write like that, what a talent.

I would also love to know how Donna and Vic got on in the future, was there another child, a career for Donna, what? That's how real it feels, like the characters are real people out there.

...you speak true...King most certainly makes his characters walk right off the page, and sit down with us...

Holds up. Saw it again last October, and it was as good as I remembered. Yep, Dee Wallace, badass. Pity they changed the ending, yet, holy crow--folks woulda flipped if, after all that, the kid croaked.

It would have been a tough sell for Hollywood in that day, even with Mr. King (hardly the icon then he is now) to sell it.

I still remember a certain furor, many years later, over a film called Pay It Forward, that you may remember as well.
