Hi Jordan :smile2:

I'm just wondering what is the size limit a photo can be at which point one would know they must be put inside a spoiler ? I am confused about that. I would be happy to spoil them myself, and in a creative way, than put the moderators to the extra trouble.

thanks for your help,

Maddie
I'll answer this one as it's been me editing those images. There is no standard size that requires a spoiler. (images above 1MB are not able to be uploaded to the site)
If when I'm moderating posts I need to scroll through an individual post to see all of the data, it usually means there are several images included in the post and one or more will be quite large. In order for me to see the whole post without scrolling, I will add a spoiler to the large image/s.

Thank you Flake. What then could I do, beforehand, as a poster , to prevent that from happening especially to birthday photos that I actually spend time with decorating on occasion at times, and if they were to be 'spoiled' , that I could at least gift wrap them in my own way? or Does it only depend on who is moderating at the time a post is done?

Any large photo is going to put in a spoiler if that is what you mean.

I'm not sure if it's just me adding spoilers to large images or not, but I suspect that other moderators may also do this at times as it can be more time consuming to scroll through posts when moderating.

As a member you could resize the image yourself before uploading, or add fewer images per post. Or just put overly-large images into a spoiler so that moderators won't need to.

My question was what is the 'Maximum' size that could be and know it would not be put in a spoiler because of size.

I can't give you a specific size sorry, because it often depends on how many images and characters (text/writing) are also included in the post, as well as the size of the images.
You might for example post only one quite large image and it won't necessarily need a spoiler if you haven't also written a paragraph or two and included other smaller images.

Personally, if I don't have to scroll to read the post, then usually I won't spoiler the image/s.

I'm not sure what you mean, most of the large photos I post are not ever put in spoilers, which is why I ask, if theres a maximum size limit to know beforehand.
I'm not sure how else to explain, sorry. :biggrin2:

Any of your images that I have been putting into spoilers is because they have been posted into a message that also includes a lot of writing and other images, meaning, that I have to scroll through your post to read all of the material/and see the images at the same time.
In order to stop that from happening, I might sometimes put the largest of the images into a spoiler, so that I no longer need scroll to see your whole post.

If it seems like this is happening to you more than others, it's because your posts are often longer than other member's--they contain more (and larger) images and often a larger font.

I'm sorry if I'm not being very clear.

I know that most times mine are not, I love large images. I spent some time on Joe Hill last night for Hill lovers birthday and there he was all covered up in a spoiler today, which is why, I wanted to ask, because I would have wrapped him into at least a graphic little gift box, if I had known. :friendly_wink:

Quite honestly I probably use (image-related) spoilers with your messages more than most... and it's only because you choose large images, and write in a larger font as well as posting multiple pics per post.

I'm sorry if you were disappointed, perhaps if you wanted to use a large image you could just choose to post only one per message? Or just make the images smaller as to fit them all into one post.
(maybe check out other posts for size comparison*)

I don't mean to throw GNTLGNT :biggrin2: under the bus with his BIG Image Bad self but I was trying to do that comparison thing in that very thread and his MONSTROUS image of Joe right above me(which I LOVED btw) made 2 of mine, so, more was my confusion about it. Its okay, I will survive this. thanks Flake :love_heart: ( just please don't let it happen again ? :umm: ) nooo I'm just teasing. thank you :tickled_pink:

How many images does Scott's post contain? One. Like I said above, if you want to include a large image in your messages then please make sure there is only one image per post.

It had only just the one, I was only looking at image Size, not overall content at that time, as you have since suggested is part of the reason for the spoiler.

*sigh* :biggrin2:

I have been trying to explain (from the beginning) that over-all content does affect whether a large image will be put behind a spoiler, or not.
Because you have more content AND often large images as well, your large images will be put behind a spoiler. If Scott had posted more images and wording as well as his large image, his large image would have been put behind a spoiler too.
