Moderator I have a question about the Beauties publication date. Would you by any chance have any knowledge of the reason for the late September release date? The reason I ask is I had inquired before about what was, to me at least, an odd release date of November 3 for The Bazaar of Bad Dreams. The reason I found that odd was because it was just after Halloween...why not release close to, but before, Halloween is what I was thinking at the time (for obvious reasons). Are the release dates for books determined in part by what else is being released at that time, similar to movies? (In other words, maybe one date is too crowded with other high-profile releases to launch a book with a high probability of success.) I'm glad we will have this book out before that holiday. Not sure if it will be geared toward that holiday or not (although it sort of sounds like it will be), but I think being able to read new material by King (and his son, of course) in the month of October is something that cannot be beat. Sounds like a great concept (I see a streaming series option for it, maybe even before publication). Also, do you happen to know if it is a long book?

The publisher is the primary driver of when a book is released but a September date isn't unusual. There are a lot of factors that go into it including what others are coming out around the same time and more importantly, production time. The cover art is just now being finalized which is why we haven't posted anything yet. I don't know if this is a firm number, but the page count is currently 720 pages.

Now I'm going to have to ask for a few days off when it's published so I can immerse myself in this one! ;-D

I remember King talking about a short story that he thought about writing after being at the airport. His wife apparently went to the bathroom and as King stood waiting for her another man's wife went into the bathroom. So King and this guy stood outside waiting for their wives to come out. King said a plot occurred to him at that point about what would happen if women going into the bathroom but never came out (or something along those lines) but he could never figure it out himself. That sounds a bit along the lines of the plot here.

I was just going to say that. He said that he never could come up with an answer, know we know, they go into the bathroom, fall asleep and get this like gauze on them, and then the men have to figure out how the hell to do stuff with out us
