I was looking on the local humane society adoption website and saw this guy. His name is Frankie and he's two. I might have to go pay him a visit.

The right one will call to you when the time is right!

Frankie is back at the Humane Society. Someone took him for a trial run and he was too rambunctious for them and they brought him back. I went to see him yesterday and he is an extreme live wire. ;-D He was a stray that was picked up on I-95. He had a collar on but no name or phone number. He appears to be well taken care of. He is lean and very fit. He is smaller than Ozzy was. He weighs 55 pounds and Ozzy was close to 70 at that age.

Mom's deal on a new condo has hit a snag, so unless that gets ironed out, I can't take him. He's too high energy to be around mom's old blind Cocker Spaniel that's at my house.

Oh was a magnificent dog. Yes, that would be too much of a strain on your mom's elder dog. Fingers crossed all sngs get resolved for you mom and Frankie can be yours. He has that "want'a play" look in his eyes too!

Do you have anyone who can take in Frankie till things are resolved?

He seems to have more than Black Lab in him, with the white chest patch and forehead shape. Either way, good luck, he is beautiful.

Those eyes!

That would be kind of tough because I don't know how he will behave. I don't want to hand a dog to someone that is going to rip their house to shreds. Since Frankie is a stray, the Humane Society doesn't have any background info on him so it's a little tough to know how he will behave his first couple of weeks out of the kennel. I remember what I went through with Ozzy at 2 years old and I don't think I can prepare someone else for that. ;-D

We used to do a training called, 'dominance down' with our two labs. It sounds bad, but it's not.
It became a game. It was hard (for me) at first ~ puppies. You can not let them get up. No no. Down.

You start with about 30 seconds of this couple times a day. Then increase the time. You just talk softly while they are on their side with your hands on them and praise them for being good and staying still.

So happy when when you say "ok!" Sounds mean, I know. But gosh, it saved their lives a few times. Just have to say 'down' and they went and would not move until you said ok.

Didn't mean that they were not stinkers though and chewed through everything for a time.

Then came Maggie. Ran me to ruin. Never took a shower alone. Had to bundle up for sneak attacks. I looked like a cutter. All the keys were off my laptop from paw slapping. All puppy playing. I could not get dressed without her running off with my pants and a 10 minute chase. She was having the best time.

I hired a trainer. She was wonderful with him. Like a sheep herder dog. Spinning, sitting, polite - till he left.

He gave me my money back.

Ozzy used to grab my clothes and take them outside. In the morning when I would get ready for work, I would leave the back door open so he go out as he pleased and he would sneak in to the bedroom and grab my shirt or socks or shoes (whatever he could get) and take them outside. ;-D One time I was doing laundry and I had just taken laundry out of the dryer and put in in the laundry basket. As I was taking the laundry to my bedroom, the phone rang. I set the basket down and answered the phone. I was on the cordless phone for a few minutes and I happened to look out the window into the back yard and saw all my clean clothes strewn across the yard. ;-D

I tried peanut butter kong toys. Didn't last. Still in the shower with me.
I just took it, she kept to the corner. I had to do double blow dries.

Ran trickle of water in bathtub at other times, and she went in there with toys.

And a bic lighter. That was her thing that made me run after her. I thought that it would explode and kill me and her.
She loved finding one. Show you, and run.

Her name became 'oh puppy no'
