I haven't saw the movie (yet) but I do have a question about the 2017 book 'IT'. Is the book different from the original novel of 'IT'. Pretty dumb question I guess but I cannot find a description of the book on several websites. Can one of the experts on the SKMB tell me?

It's the exact same as the original version of the novel. It's just a different cover is all.

Are you thinking of the promotional movie poster cover art version of the novel? There's no new different version from the 1986 book.

Yes that is the one -- white. and red. Thank you for answering, embarassed I even had to ask. But it is listed on eBay and Amazon (Canada) as Part I and below another listed as Part 2. So to me, that meant different from 1986, just the size alone and 2 books made me think there must be a change(s).

Some publishers have split the book into two parts because of the size. Part 1 would be the first half of the original book and Part 2 the second half. I don't know with certainty if that is what this is but the book itself has not been edited since its original release, e.g. such as The Stand which had nearly 400 pages added back in.

Thanks Moderator unlike The Stand (I have 3 copies) I have only the original 'IT'. Several still missing since the fire, while I am cleaning the bookcase, wishing I
had 2 bookcases, I thought I would make a list of what books I have not yet replaced.

I hope you get all of your books back. There is something about owning an actual book instead of a digital book.

....that same split was also done with Under The Dome as well......

I never know that there has been versions of Stephen King's books being split into more than one part.

...well, the show died an early and deserved death...."based on" is probably the kindest thing that could have been said for it.....

I never watched it, or read the book so I don't know how faithful the show was. Alot of times I've seen from many stuff I've read hasn't been overly faithful to the source material. I get sometimes things get lost during translation because books are a different medium, and things have to be done differently. I hope the latest adaptions work out better.

It has taken a long time. But think I am down to less than 10. I agree about the actual book too.

Good I'm glad you've got them back. I hope I haven't sounded horrible about digital books either, there is nothing wrong with them either. It's great to know you have a copy of the book that will always be in good quality :)
